I have the same sound. I mentioned it to the dealer when they did 5K services. They told me they did not hear anything. Were they supposed to check the belt tension?
I had the same issue at around 500 miles on my bike. The belt was WAY too tight, I had to adjust it. One I adjusted it, the noise and vibration went away.
I have a 2018 that started the same noise when coasting down right about 25-30mph. The bike had 1200 miles on when I noticed it. Had the dealer adjust the belt, which they did to spec and it made the noise almost constantly after that. I loosened it up just a bit and it got much better. I noticed that the inner part of the rear sprocket, on the left inside lip where the belt runs, is a rough finish from the factory. I assume the belt running on that edge is making the noise, and I understand it has to if properly aligned. What I ended up trying was putting just a little Dow 55 o ring lube on the left edge of the belt and the noise stopped immediately for a time. I did this maybe 3 or 4 times, the bike now has 11k on it and I very seldom will hear that noise, and only slightly when it does. I think some miles and a little wear in time probably would help a lot if you can stand to hear it for a bit.
Just picked-up my new 2019 Softail Slim and noted the sound also . My Softail does not sound like a real Harley according to my friend . It will sound like a Harley in about one week when the new Vance and Hines pipes come in and I install them . Now my bike sounds like a sewing machine . It will be so loud with the new pipes I do not plan on hearing anything . I checked my belt tension with a Harley belt tensioner tool and my deflection is dead on, so I do not plan on making any changes to the belt tension . I think Harley is under so much pressure from the EPA to make theses bikes run lean and quite that there are alot of new sounds that the Harley's are producing that we are not accustomed to . Just three short years ago my 2016 Harley Sporster Iron before my stage I upgrades made no unusal sounds . Appears things have really changed in our Harley world .
Speaking of noises, I know all the m8s must do it (cuz ya can hear it on all the YouTube vids), it takes some getting used to that whiney whistle type sound they make? Idk much about engines, but it sounds like it's from the valvetrain. Any you guys know what ime talking about?
Lol, no baffles would probably fix it. Lol...
Counter balancer gear whine, kinda sounds like the old panheads or generator sporties. Mine finally quieted down enough I don't notice it anymore after a couple thousand miles.

. Yeah. I hate that noise. They oughta be able to distinguish it, it happens when your not even moving. Honestly, I getting used to it, but if it goes away about 2k, Thad be great!
BTW, what the book say diflection, total, should be?

The whine won't go away with miles. The noise is permanent.
