I had the oil pressure sensor turn on when I turned my FXFBS this morning and the trouble codes read as follows: p0552h and p0553h. I cant find them specifcially addressed for Harley but generally they mean:
p0552: Engine Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch Low Voltage Powertrain Control Module, or PCM, finds that the engine oil pressure sender/sensor is too high
I have a power vision target tune and so it will void my warranty as soon as I bring it into the dealer.
Does anyone have experience or knowledge with the error codes and or the complexity/cost of their repair?
I'd try replacing your sending unit. I actually have a spare in my garage because I heard these things go bad at times. It's only like $10 and pretty easy to change and see if that resolves your issue.
My FXFBS showed the oil pressure light right before my 20,000 mile service. Oil level was fine; the dealer replaced the sensor and all has been fine since. I don't know what the codes were, but I suspect you probably have the same issue.
Your warranty's already gone, whether the dealer flags it or not, so don't worry about that. The moment you flashed your bike you guaranteed you'll never get another powertrain repair paid for, so it really doesn't matter whether the dealer flags it, right? So I wouldn't worry too much, you're going to have to pay for the repair anyway.
If you really want to avoid the flag, you can go to an independent shop; they can read codes and they can replace an oil pressure sensor, but they don't have the Digital Technician so they can't flag the warranty.
I had those exact codes on my 17 FLHX. I took it to the dealer and they said that if it does that chronically, then it's an issue. The bike is doing what it's supposed to do - it senses a high pressure (even for a second) and the code is stored - this can happen on cold morning startups (for HD, they consider cold <60*F). It does not mean that anything failed, will fail, nor is continually running at high pressure.
