I am in the process of purchasing a 19 deluxe. I mainly run around town and do a few short trips here and there. Coming from a T120 Bonneville. I love the Bonnie but she just isn’t practical for the freeway. My question is how does the deluxe do on the freeway ?
In terms of wind on your face, similarly to the Triumph but it will feel smoother because the engine won’t be roaring high revs as much because the displacement is larger.
I’ve only test road one and it was great. Gorgeous bikes. I think you can get windshields for them too but not sure.
I have the Heritage and it goes great on the highway. 70-80 MPH is a breeze. The motor feels relaxed but competent and with a windshield you could ride the bike anywhere.
I just bought a 2019 Deluxe. I put on a windshield and fangs, and it's great at highway speeds. It's also great around town - handles like a dream. The only other thing I absolutely have to do asap is throw on some pipes. My wife's sewing machine has more attitude.
I traded a Triumph Street Twin for a 2018 Heritage. It was 100 miles of highway/interstate to the dealer. I stopped three times on the way there with the Triumph for gas, food, and to just take a break. I didn't have to stop at all on the way back with the Heritage. I would definitely add a shield to a Deluxe if you were going to a lot of highway miles. Otherwise compared the the T120 the Deluxe will be much nicer on the highway.
I have an ‘18 Deluxe. Lots of buffeting starting at around 60mph. I ride it on the freeway a bunch, but if you are going to do some long distance riding on it, you’re probably going to want a windshield, fangs, etc.
I went from a 650 metric 5-speed to a 2019 Deluxe. The Deluxe has NO PROBLEM on the highway. My metric, well, was noisy, under weight and under powered; however it was a great bike to learn on.
With regard to noise: At first I didn't like all the wind buffeting, but honestly I have gotten used to it. I know there are some fang-kits that are supposed to minimize the noise as well. Maybe I'll explore those if it really starts to bother me.
You can't go wrong with all that chrome and whitewalls! Just Do It!
