Default Thunderheader Sound

This sounds nice. I always thought these were too loud for my taste but maybe not.
How does this volume compare to the S&S Super Street?

They are called THUNDER headers for a good reason.

I thought so.
I'm gonna say that the S&S Super Street is not real loud but is close to my limit.

Can't tell for sure but that sounds quite a bit louder and deeper than the Superstreet to me. Sounds good that's for sure.

That's about the same rumble the Superstreet has without the dB reducer and it was way too much for my ears. The droning was killing them. Other than that I loved the sound.

Is that bike stage 1 or 2?
I ask because my 114 with a Super Street as a stage 1 sounded anemic to me. As a stage 2 it is deeper and has a bit more volume, sounds similar to that video. Still quiet for my taste but I was used to a high compression twin cam with a rush wrath.

Come on Mike. Seriously? You know you can’t judge relative volume from a video. 99.9% are recorded on phones which try and set auto levels. The ONLY way to remotely judge relative sound levels would be with a SPL meter or a recorder that allows for a set recording level, and recording several bikes back to back in the exact same environment.

All you’ll get off YouTube is the tone of the pipe.

I can’t believe you even suggested that lol.

The video sounds clipped but I'd venture by what I heard that it would be far too loud for me. Notwithstanding the sound, it looks terrible on the bike, IMHO way too long, of course that's subjective.

I like the sound and the fact that it's a long pipe, longer pipes usually make more power under the curve than a short pipe. My main concern is that it is a thunderheader...back in the day that meant you had about one or two good seasons before the rust set in. Wonder if they have gotten past that?

I don't think the manufacturing has changed, so I doubt the corrosion situation has either.

I never had one, but I did buy a "Red Thunder" which is essentially a copy made in Europe, but from stainless. Supposed to be pretty much identical except for the material. I had it on my Dyna Low Rider S for about a week before I pulled it off. Way too loud. Kinda killed the whole thunderheader mythos for me.
