Danmoto!
in the end, I bought the Cobra El Diablo 2 into 1, which is a longish pipe, but not as long as either the V&H or the S&S. The collector is similarly designed, joining with a shallow angle (unlike the Danmoto) around the gearbox and the pipe seems to be about 4-5 inches shorter. Decision was made mostly on price and perceived quality. Haven’t installed the Cobra yet, but build quality, welds, and chrome.look at least as good as other V&H pipes that I’ve had previously.
I’ll take some pics of the Cobra and write it up when I install the new pipe
Which is a shame because it looks great on the sport glide.
Pipe sounds pretty mellow to me, but I think I'm with Mchad on this one - can't tell much from a video, especially just a cell phone recording. The Pro Pipe design looks sort of like a two stage muffler with a large diameter secondary muffler, but the smaller inner muffler looks like a capped design to force all the flow out/around. Found some discussion about drilling a hole in that end plug

I'll bet the baffle design is identical in the M8 model. Lots of other info if you google Pro Pipe baffle.
There is a 'competition' baffle too for the Pro Pipe

Just looked at my new Cobra El Diablo pipe - it's a straight through design with a pretty large diameter louvered core. Bet that will sound raspy compared to the V&H Pro.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
1) S&S shows pretty much identical power gains for their Grand National mufflers on the stock headpipe, as they do for their SuperStreet full 2-1 system.
2) In another thread I pointed out a 124" Low Rider built for the Battle of the Kings, that chose to use the stock Fat Bob headpipe and some Rinehart slip-ons. They say it easily runs 10.5-second quarter miles.
3) Steve Cole showed a Fat Bob Stage IV build where the customer insisted on keeping the stock headpipe and Street Cannons. It was a 117 build, all Harley parts but a TTS cam and tune, I think the numbers were in the ballpark of 125 HP and 130 TQ, don't remember exactly but it was in that neighborhood. And the torque curve was exquisite. Those numbers are comparable to Harley's claims for their new 128" Stage IV motor.
So between all those, it sure looks to me like if you don't want to ruin the Fat Bob's looks to get some performance, you don't have to.
