I read about things in the M8 forum that has become mostly a touring bike discussion and has nothing to do with my 2018+ Softail.

Sometimes topics brought up here like transmission vent or sumping which are common to touring bikes and mostly talked about in the M8 forum but has nothing to do with the 2018+ Softail.
These topics are just not a Softail worry but more of a virus invading this 2018+ Softail forum.
If you have a Softail I wouldn't worry about venting the engine case nor the primary.
I did vent the oil breathers to the outside atmosphere instead of inside the air filter. I use an oil catch can too. Keeps any snot from going back into the engine. Here is a good proof vid of why I do this (and have always done it on all my HD bikes): link (copy and past): youtu.be/RZyO7qK9npE
