A stage II cam in a M8 engine is a HUGE improvement. Here is the difference with the torque cam as measured on the Cycle World dyno. The torque cam preserves your torque at the bottom end and adds huge everywhere else.

Even with that generic Pro Street tuner?

I put the torque cam in my fat bob a month or so ago. Feels like a different bike, it even sounds better. Well worth it if you ask me.

Was that on top of a stage one?

Yeah, S&S pipes and this SE intake:

Along with the Harley tuner. You really don’t gain any power with the stage 1, just sound and looks.

If I could get a torque cam in my m8 fxbr for around $1k or so, and done by a good mechanic, Id love to have stage 2.
But, like a previous post suggested, I definitely don't wanna hafta worry about reliability or having a catastrophic engine failure. For me, there's just something about opening up a perfectly fine running engine. Under warranty sounds good! If my dealer would allow it under mine, (not sure with my stage 1) for a deal, I'd think hard. I think I got 2 years?
I've heard it's a helluva gain on 114. Mines a 107fxbr.

Something I forgot to mention in my previous reply is that once the bike warms up with the torque cam you get somewhat of a lope that is not present in the stock configuration. That, coupled with the slightly louder sound of the street cannons was also a worthwhile improvement, to me.

One of the reasons I'm asking is I had a bad experience with my previous '17 Fatboy S. I had some serious engine upgrades, including S&S lifters, pushrods and their 585 cam. A week after I had this done by Speed's Performance during Bike Week, catastrophic engine failure. Bent valve.

Speed's kicked in new heads - those Screaming Eagle heads are known for weak springs - and I added a new premium oil pump. This setup also lasted about a week when a lifter failed. Needless to say, I spent a ton of money.

After all this, I can't believe I'm even considering going to Stage 2 (I already have Stage one on this new bike). But I am. I like the fact the torque cam would be under warranty.

So I'm asking: Is the torque cam really worth it? I don't know if I trust some of these dyno charts the dealers put out, so what I really want to know is if the torque cam delivers a real seat-of-the-pants difference to those of you who have it.

I appreciate any information or opinions.
At the end of the day, you ride a Harley. On my first HD, I installed Stage everything. It increased performance by 80%.
BUT it’s still a Harley. Too heavy, marginal handling and not as fast as my old Honda V65 Sabre I bought in 1984.
Not worth it IMHO. On my next two I did Stage One and done. No regrets. They’re Harley’s after all. Enjoy your ride!

I had an '86 V65 Magna. Fastest bike I've ever owned. Or anyone else at the time for that matter. But it didn't have a lot of torque, at least not compared to my FB. Whole different animal as you say. Being 30-some years older I live at lower speeds these days. And I enjoy the torque at those speeds tremendously. Makes riding fun
