Default Adding a fan to the oil cooler.

I ride in some heavy Manila traffic and just upgraded the motor to a 128" so running hotter. So am adding a fan to the outside of the oil cooler. Fan is a SPAL 4" low profile that I bought on Amazon for $70. Its just slightly larger than the trim, so I will eventually cut the trim back if I decide the fan works. Attached the fan using the Derale plastic rod mounting kit for $7 also off amazon. Basically, its zip tie to the front of the oil cooler. Its a perfect fit without the trim, Just added a button switch for on/off and a pigtail to plug into the battery harness. I need to run to the store to pick up some zip ties to tidy it up. Also, I need to buy some mini fuse 5amp to replace the 7.5amp the battery harness uses. I have a Powervision and will try to remember to check temps next time stuck in traffic.

Yes - it looks messy so am sure others out there can fab up a better mounting system.

That's interesting. Good idea.

Looks like the fender might hit the fan?

Is it possible to have the fan behind the cooler, so you dont restrict airflow into the cooler for normal riding?

I didnt try it but am pretty sure there is not enough clearance or the header will prob melt the fan. IThe touring bikes have theirs behind the oil cooler and looks much better, but theirs is pretty low.

You may want to look into a Noctua NF A14 fan if you want to do that. They are are used in PCs, But they are designed specifically to be mounted push and pull air through Radiators.
You will get quite a bit more airflow, and they are more slim than the fan you got on that.
They make some black industrial ones that will run at 2000 and 3000RPM, and some that have an IP67 Rating.
