I have a 19 deluxe. I want to go in the direction of a tip of the hat to the old Duo glides of the 1950's. Should I go beach bars or go with the carlini freeway bars? Any other recommendations?
I used the stock handlebars from the '18+ Low Rider. they remind me of the "buckhorn" bars from the 50's and are similar to the stock bars that came on my '94 FLSTN (which were old Shovelhead Electra Glide bars).
Can I ask, does anyone know the official book time for HD to do a handlebar swap?
I think in my case It cost about $250 plus the cost of the bars. Of course, Im my case there were no wiring, cable or brake lines needed, which would add parts and labor to the job.
I used to do my own handlebar swaps, and even drilled my own bars for internal wiring on my old FLSTN. Im s bit more reluctant to do that with these new bikes with throttle by wire and Can bus.

we have a custom builder near me, he says about three hours. Local HD sales guy thinks all day. Total is about Ł1000 job done including bars and cables etc.

Again, it depends on whether you have to extend wires, swap out cables and brake lines, etc. In my case, the shop did the job in about a couple of hours while I waited. If they'd had to extend the wires, and replace the brake line/bleed the brakes, and replace the clutch cable, I figure it would take a few hours more.
I was at the local HD the other day and I heard a $900 quote just for labor for a bar job. Told the guy it's an "all day job" and that he's more than likely "under-bidding the hours". Said it's usually 8+ hours at $135/hour but he'd do it for $900.
