Ive had by 2019 sport glide in service for this same problem. They replaced many parts and could not figure it out. Local dealer had a tech from HD Corp. come and look at my bike and the final conclusion was that its part of an anti stall strategy. I believe it goes crazy a lot of times in hotter weather. Im really fed up with this!
My grips and levers are all stock, bike does not start in gear or with kickstand down, clutch switch operates as it should
Your bike SHOULD start it gear! With clutch lever pulled of course. There's your prob. Your bike should also start with kickstand down. I start my bike for warmup standing beside it all the time.
A bad clutch switch will make this worst but doesnt solve the problem when that is repaired. I experienced this initially. The problem persists despite all the trouble shooting the dealer attempted until the tech from HD Corp acknowledged it was due to an anti stall strategy.
So Steve, mine is an M8, 107, Stage 2, Softail. No mention of Parade Duty in my manual. Still does the idle bump for 1-2 seconds after 0 mph. What other explanation do you have?
All of the M8's have Parade Duty and best I know there is no way to switch it off by the customer. My personal bike did the same thing as all the rest of you are talking about and I did not care for it so I turn it down to a lower setting in the calibration. Most are set around 1100 RPM but they will flare when it kicks in. On my bike it was most notable when you were doing parking lot maneuvers or slow turning in a tight space. The damn thing would kick in and you needed to be quick on the clutch. I slowed mine down to 950 RPM when it kicks in so it's still there but not so intrusive when it does. If you could not find it in your manual maybe they removed it but I can assure you the its there in the calibration to allow you to idle along in first gear without the bike stalling. As I recall it drops out when your vehicle speed drops below about 5 mph.
