Default Softail Right Turn Indicator Accessory Switch

Hi all
I have a 2019 Sport Glide and I have modified both turn signal switch caps in order to activate the second hidden switch behind them. On the left I have already connected my fog/aux lights to it and they work great. Now on the right...is where the mystery begins.

I have asked around dealerships techs, extensive online searches for different countries and sent numerous emails to HD US but no joy as yet.

I have checked lots of connectors with a multimeter to see if that switch activates any circuit from the BCM, but alas it doesn't and there isn't anything on the wiring diagrams either.

Whilst bikes for different markets might have a slightly different BCMs I was wondering if anyone knew of that right hand switch being used for anything for any Softail in any market around the world?
Just of note, not all Softails have double switch modules, it really depends of the production batch and market they were intended for as I am led to believe.

Whilst the tourers are different of course, there is sometimes some coincidental crossover functionality with Softails. On the tourers, the right hand - second switch is used either as a back or information button for the infotainment mostly. So I am wondering whether there is any function on that right switch for Softails?

The techs I have spoken to also claim that the BCM may not be able to be reprogrammed to activate that right switch or they do not know what circuit it would open.

My initial thoughts were that it might be a switch function for running lamps or passing lamps etc but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Now of course it just might be a batch of switches they decided to install with no use whatsoever but my gut feeling is there is something there to work with.

Any ideas anyone has from around the world on the Softails would be great or if anyone has connected an accessory to that right hand switch or has had the BCM reprogrammed to activate would be really helpful to know too.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

I can't help you with the right turn issue, but would you mind doing a write-up on what you did for the left turn one? I've been plotting the same thing and would really appreciate the help.

sure no problem. I've actually made a couple of videos which I'm just putting together now which might be easier to digest but essentially you either modify the turn indicator switch or swap them out for extended switch caps. When you do that you should see two white push buttons. The one of the right is the aux/fog lamp switch. When you press that the fog lamp icon will light up on the IM.
Once you've got that then you'll need to go under the tank and into the frame where the turn signal connectors are. You'll need to add a pin to slot 4 of the connector as that will be the power feed. You'll have to splice into the black wire from pin 3 which is the ground, then these two will go to a fog light. Do the same with the other turn connector to power the other fog light.
So here is a video I made explaining that some bikes have the double switch and others don't. I'll post the new videos soon to show the whole process. Cheers

The search continues...

Awesome! I'd gotten to the point of installing the caps and finding the functional switch, and saw the connectors in the service manual. So just add the second positive wire to slot 4, splice the ground and good to go.

Thanks!

Wouldn't it be better to attach the ground wire to a convenient point on the frame rather than splicing wires?

It may have no function at all. With harley just using the same switch internals from the left hand side mounted in the opposite direction. Maybe just maybe.
