Default VH eliminator quiet baffle install

Hi
Considering Install of quiet baffle on my VH eliminators and have few questions:
1. Can I do it without removing these slip ons from the bike?
2. How hard it is to remove this tips at the end?
3. Any special techniques to remove tips?
4. Will I gain a bit more of my low end torque?
5. If you did it can you share your comments/impressions?
6. Any other advice for this job?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers 🍻

This is a very easy instal.

1. Can I do it without removing these slip ons from the bike?

Yes.
2. How hard it is to remove this tips at the end?

Not hard at all. Just unscrew them

3. Any special techniques to remove tips?

Yes. Small 1/2 twists until you’ve got it out far enough to install the baffles. DO NOT PULL THE WHOLE BAFFLE OUT!!!

4. Will I gain a bit more of my low end torque?

Yes. It’s in the box you put your stock cans in but you get it back with these baffles.

5. If you did it can you share your comments/impressions?

Prior to installing the quiet baffles on my FXLRS I felt a loss in low end torque and a nasty dragon fart sound on deceleration with the Eliminator 300. After the install, I got my torque back, kept most of the acceleration sound and less nasty dragon fart. The way the bike performed after the installation of the quiet baffles made it feel stock again but a little louder. With and without the quiet baffles, I could still hear the motor clear as day, which I was fine with (at the time) and I ran these slip-ons without a tune.

6. Any other advice for this job?

Take your time and use hand tools only (over tightening the cap will leave an indent). Lastly, after you’ve got it all buttoned up (and you’ve put your tools up) and you start it up, don’t be alarmed when you feel exhaust coming from the space between the cans and their end caps. The quiet baffles create a small space between them. V&H said it was normal and to use a sealant of some sort if I couldn’t live with it.

Hope this helps. I did everything I’m telling you not to do when I installed mine. Lol. What do you ride?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers 🍻[/QUOTE]

Really nice of you to provide all the info. I have 2019 Heritage. Love this bike as it has everything I wanted. Yes stock sound is lame but these VH are obnoxious so I want give my ears and neighbors a bit of the break.

if you will have to grade sound loudness and stock was 1 and VH without baffle was 10 where will you put them with baffles installed?

Any chance for photo of this gap the baffles create?

one last question do these original VH baffles come out easy or I have to force it, twist it, etc. I watched some videos but surprisingly they always skip parts of video when they slid the original baffle a bit and remove tips thats why I ask.

If they pipes are new "out of the box", the baffles should slide right out. If they have been in there a while on the bike, a slide hammer will get them out. You can leave the pipes on the bike to keep them steady, then use the slide hammer gently but repeatedly to work the baffles out.

I have an old slide hammer for pulling car dents when I did auto body work in a past life. A good one isn't cheap. You could borrow one, or buy a cheap one from harbor freight for about $25. It's a handy tool for a lot of uncooperative things 😉

Congrats on your bike. I took a hard look at the Heritage but didn’t get the opportunity to test ride it.

If the V&H is a 10, after you install the quiet baffles, they go down between a 6.5 and 7.5 out of 10. The baffles also reduce the decel’ noise too.

I do not have any photos of the gap and cannot take any. I’ve already taken these slip-ons off and installed TBR 2-1. But fwiw you can’t really see the gap. It looks like it’s sealed but it isn’t. The air coming out is not excessive.

And yes they come out easy. After I took the hex screws out I got them out without any issues wearing a leather glove (traction) and twisting it out going 1/2 inch in one direction and 1/2 in the other until I got it out far enough to start the installation.

Removal was successful and quite straightforward. Thank you for the comments. Now waiting for baffles to arrive as I decided only order if I can get the original out easy. Excited about noise reduction as if these are 6-7 that should be perfect not to mention some back pressure well needed and lost before. Glad I went with Eliminator 300 rather than slash cut as I like slash cut look better but read some reviews of tough baffle installs so it was conscious decision.

Appreciate all the support and Marry Xmass 🎅

I’ve had the quiet baffles for a few Months now. I tend to miss the volume at the lights / when stationary, but it’s a lot lot better from 30 mph+. I can do my daily commute (mainly 70+ roads) and still hear traffic. The drone has gone when cruising.

on you scale, I’d say the baffles are around 3-4. They are still much nicer than stock, giving that deeper note, but less bark than without baffles.

for me they work for the time being... but I’d like to achieve about a 7 on your scale to be happy. But that will most likely be with a full system and custom baffles to suit.

I put my V&H Eliminator 300 (ordered through local HD dealer) exhaust on and was a bit unhappy about the sound, especially on decel. Bought a set of V&H quiet baffles from Revzilla and had some trouble getting them on with the pipes installed on my 2018 FLHCS (Heritage). Removal of the end caps was a trial but I stuck with it and succeeded with not so gentle tapping back and forth on opposite sides with a screwdriver. I also screwed up and pulled the guts out of the top pipe; what a pain to get it back in (but again, I got it done). I had to hammer the new baffles in quite a bit to get them all the way in so the screws would line up for the end caps. A PITA, but we all live and learn. I'm sure glad I did it, because the pipes now sound how I hoped they would when I bought them.

I also did a V&H FP3 install which really woke up the bike's performance. This was another PITA that worked out. The first FP3 I received (from Revzilla) was faulty. After hours on the phone, V&H customer service made it right and overnighted me a new one which worked perfectly. Again, live and learn.

I would do both again.

I agree that the sound is more 3-4 with the quiet baffles. That disappointed me a little, but I was happy to get back torque I lost without them and to get rid of the annoying deceleration sound.

I'm hoping, as I put more miles on them, that they will wake up a little more in the sound department.

I have the V&H 300's on my 114 Heritage and really like them. About a month after I installed the mufflers I installed the quite baffles just to see the difference. I left them in for about a month then removed them and I gotta tell ya I like them a whole lot better without the baffles. The bike just runs better and a lot smoother without them and sounds a whole lot better. Just my experience.
