Default Recommended Best Batwing Fairing for 2019 FLHCS

I have plans to get a new SGS but I decided to shelve it for the Pan Am. Instead, I plan to buy a Batwing Fairing for my 2019 FLHCS to satisfy my need for better wind protection and a stereo. Anybody can share their experience when they had a batwing installed in their softails? Who makes the best batwing fairings in the market?

I went with Reckless. Had it color matched and with the inifinity, amp and speakers, is a great set-up. Negatives is that its heavy due to the speakers so you should upgrade the front fork springs and oil. I still have a wobble almost exactly at 85 mph that goes away at 90 mph. Figure its some air dynamics going on at that speed.

I just bought a 2018 Heritage and have a Recless fairing. I first bought a TKY fairing with radio and while the fairing was of good quality the radio seemed to me to be more of something better suited for inside a vehicle with all kinds of small buttons. It does have the ability to download various Android apps to an internet interface but I didn't like it. Another thing I wasn't keen on was the mounting brackets were way too heavy for my taste. So for a lot of people it's a great piece of equipment but for me.

The Recless fairing has a terrific Rockford Fosgate marine grade water proof radio that is made to interface with an iphone and I think maybe an Android phone. It's simple and offers am/fm/ weather/ Bluetooth (especially to an iphone) and a usb port. All kinds of speaker adjustments which know nothing about. I bought it through Accessories International.com and they were excellent to deal with. It was suggested to me to upgrade the speakers which I did and they sound very good particularly bluetooth from the iphone. I tested the connectivity by streaming music to the radio from the iphone and then I started a route with the google maps app on the phone and the directions worked great, cutting into the music for directions and then back to the streaming. I have the HD Sena head set and I tried to bluetooth it to the radio but I couldn't get the three pieces of equipment to all work together. The iphone paired with the Sena.
The TKY wiring to bike power was better but the Reckless was adequate. There's a HD wiring harness that makes this job easy. If you search my few posts you will find the part number from a fellow member.

IMO the Recless fairing doesn't tilt back quite enough towards the handle bars. The mounting brackets were cut out so the inner fairing almost touches the front two handle bar bolts so it can't lean backwards any more. Based on a friend's suggestion I bought four stainless bolts with round button heads that are about an 1/8 or maybe a little more lower than the stock ones (and look so much better.) I'm planning on cutting out the top brackets indentations a little so the fairing will lean back just a little more. I doubt if anyone else would notice it. I'm most likely making a mountain out of a mole hill.

I bought the adjustable fairing wind deflectors but they sure are crude. Not sure I'll use them unless I'm going on a long trip. Don't by the windshield trim either. Very crude. A HD trim will be way better. The fairing itself looks very good for not being painted. I just made the Heritage into my second M8 Street Glide but 100 pounds lighter and very very nimble and excellent suspension perfect for this 158 pounds rider.

Hope this info helps more than confuse.

The Ebay $80 lowers fit great and work surprising well with a black plastic tie at the bottom that fastens each securely to the guards. I've been told to buy 2013 and back for the windshield and for these lowers. Windshield came with the bike and once I see how it's height works for me I'll buy an aftermarket recurve.

thanks beammeup for the thorough review. Can you post more pictures to include the inside, electrical connections and mounting brackets. Again thanks.
