I tried the BMF filter. It was only available in tall size for the Heritage.
As far as I can tell, the BMF is the same type of filter as the stock filter. So the only way to get it to flow more air, is to give it more surface area; and the only reasonable way to do that was to make it wider (or taller, depending on how you look at it). Supposed to be about 1/2" thicker than the stock filter.
It stuck out so far my right leg couldn't reach the rear brake pedal.
Well that is concerning. I've been told that it sticks out a little more but not enough to cause that much interference. I guess I'll see when mine shows up. I've been hoping it'll be a non-issue because I upgraded my 3.6-gallon Fat Bob tank to a 5-gallon, which means my right leg is naturally already sticking out more than it used to. Hope it works out.
The BMF is not a problem with mid controls. No problems even with my highway pegs. Not the best choice for forward controls. As far as oil filter’s ( k&n) I ran them on many bikes and cars with no problems.

Good point - I forgot to say I have forward controls and floorboards on my Heritage.
That's what I get for not re-reading the thread -- I came here to post the difference, and you already had. Thanks for that!
The BMF filter looks massively huge when you first see it! I measured the spacers that they include, figuring that those should be just about exactly the difference in size, and it's right on 9/10 of an inch wider. I thought it was supposed to be 1/2" wider, so ... we'll see if this causes any issue.
Running the same filter on my heritage, no issues. 30 inseam.
Dang I like how that looks! I have a 117 Ventilator I want to install on my Low Rider ST to replace the Stock Big Sucker or whatever it is called, and I think it will look and perform great with the BMF filter
