I'm looking at getting a moons mc tail light. The v3 is sold out with the smoked lens so im looking at the v2. The only difference I see is the shape of the actual leds inside. Can anyone confirm? Also what have others done to get a blacked out base? The moons mc one says it's not made for the model year 2020. Thanks folks!
No issues with Moons for me. Replied to my emails relatively quickly and the install was pretty straight forward. Housing is nice and dark, it has strobe brake light and the turn signal direction arrow is very clear when viewed directly from the rear. Only things I don’t like are that the tail light causes the dash to fast flash (turn signals themselves flash properly though). Also the LEDs completely disappear when viewed at certain angles from the rear which is concerning.
With regards to the Custom Dynamics...it’s a brighter light at more viewing angles, very bright. Downsides are the housing is not as dark as the Moons so it looks quite conspicuous on the bike, no strobing brake light and the turn signal direction isn’t that clear in terms of a defined arrow one way or the other like the Moons but it doesn’t cause any fast flash.
I bought an extra OEM chrome base which I plan to paint black to get round that issue.
I fitted the Moons but I might go back to the Custom Dynamics for visibility and to get rid of the fast flash on the dash gauge.
