Default Mini Ape's on 2018+ Fatboy

While searching post related to handlebar swaps, I didn’t find a lot of detailed information for 2018+ Fatboy’s; so I thought I would post up a few of pictures of my new to me 2018 Fatboy 107 with a set of 10” Khrome Werks 1-1/4” Mini Apes that I just installed. For some background, I have 12” HD tallboy bars on my Road Glide that fit me perfectly, and I wanted something for the Fatboy that would be similar in reach, hand, and wrist position (I know I should have gone taller, but I’ve tried that, and they just don’t work for me). After trying a couple of different brands and styles of bars, I came across these Khrome Werks, and they a pretty darn close to the fit and feel I was looking for. There are certainly more trendy and stylish bars out there, but this swap was more about comfort then looks.

So, if anyone out there is looking to do something similar, here are the parts numbers that I used. It took trying a couple of different cables and brake lines to get an OEM fit (how HD measures their extended cables and brake lines is a mystery to me), but the below part #’s worked out perfectly.

ˇ Khrome Werks 10" Chrome Fat Center Bobber 1-1/4" Apehanger Handlebars Part # 300350

ˇ 42” Upper Clutch Cable, HD Part # 37200383

ˇ 27” Upper Brake Line, HD Part # 41800678

ˇ Upper Brake Line Brake Adapter HD Part # 41600245

ˇ NAMZ Handlebar Control extension Harness 8", Part # NHCX-J08

ˇ NAMZ Throttle-by-Wire Handlebar Wire Extension Harness, 8" Long, Part # NTBW-J08

ˇ NAMZ 8" Plug-n-Play Front Turn Signal Extension, Part # NTSX-CB08

Looks good, I like the wider base width over the HD ones, suits the Fatboy better! Here's mine, I'd like yours or some Highballs.

Not really into apes for my own riding. But they do look good. Good job!

Looks good and nice listing of the parts, I did not use any of them since I made my own wiring

The stock clutch cable can be reused up to a 12" ape, for the brake-line I used the upper part from FXBB ( I have ABS )

As soon that the weather clears up a bit I will take some new photos because these are "old ones" , swapping of the handlebar I did after 20 days of ownership and the bike have more mods
in the meanwhile. But if you want to see more for now you can click on my sig below and you will see more pictures form all my bikes including this one.

You are correct, I could have reused the stock clutch cable if I relocated it to behind the forks/nacelle as you did, but I preferred the stock routing location, so that required the extended cable. Wish I would have known about the FXBB brake line, it probably would have been a little cheaper option, and I wouldn't have had to use the Harley adapter fitting. However, I did think about using a longer stock line from another Softail model, but I couldn't find any info on the lengths of the stock lines, only the accessory extended lines.

Yes it was easy for me, I have a FXBB in the garage and could easily measure it up. Also I opted for this brakeline and the rerouting of the clutch cable because it then follows more the lines of the handlebar as you can see in the picture.

To clean up the cables that comes out of the handlebar I used a black paracord, now it looks like one big cable.

The only downside now is that I have to do all the work again, the handlebar is loosening some chrome at a certain place and the seller has already provided me with a new handlebar so that I can replace it and then give this "damaged"
back to him. Good service, but was not waiting to reinstall the handlebar, I was glad it was on because of the shape it was not easy to get the wires true it.

Maybe I will keep the "damaged" handlebars if I can have it at a discount price, then I will powder coat it gloss black to mount on my FXSB, I will first do a test fitting to see how it is and whether I am sitting correctly. I just would do this
because I have a very good sitting position with this handlebar on the Fat Boy.

I like what you did with the paracord, very ingenious.
