Default Engine cleaning

Hate saying this but I’m new here.... looking for some engine cleaning products and tips from some experienced guys ... I have a 21 low rider s and would like to keep the engine clean. Dealer did some work to it and have some residual fluids on the engine. They just don’t clean it like it’s their own ya know. Tips would be appreciated thanks guys

My dealership I bought my former bike from did the same thing. I walked right back inside and told them they have some more work to do. They did it correctly after that, then I never went back to them for anything other than parts or gear.

My former bike (engine) always received a thorough wipe down after it cooled down from a ride. Just hot or warm water-soaked rag, then wipe off. Never used chemicals. Painted bodywork never saw water; only used spray-on wax or detailer. '16 model year RG still looked brand new.

My new '21 Low Rider S will receive the same treatment. Will service myself, and dealer won't ever touch it unless its warranty work. They'll be instructed to NOT wash or wipe it down following warranty work.

I've always found that if I cleaned/wiped my bikes down after each ride its less work, plus you can catch something that might become a problem because you're always looking it over.

Don't ride it and it will stay looking brand new forever! All jokes aside, I gave up on keeping my engine showroom floor clean as I ride a bit too much to be worrying about it that much. She gets soap and water and a rag but still looks good. I figure it's not a show bike, it's a let's go riding bike so no need to have it shining and new looking all the time.

When I was younger, I used the S-100 and it seemed to me everything was like new clean for a very long time, but at 62 and my current bikes are 8 and 40 years old, soap and water and wipe'em down works and $aves.

Your picture above looks like oil from the lower rocker box assembly is wicking out and vaporizing on the smooth surface. I would spray a little Lucas Mist and wipe that off with a microfiber towel and call it done. .

To be clear, this looks normal after the top end was disassembled maybe to have a new set of cams installed. Just assembly lube working out of the motor the 1st time it was hot.
