Tires age out at 6 years from the date they are put into service based on the recommendations of the Rubber Manufacturer's Association. Ten years is way too much.

I drove out from So CA to Sturgis in middle of July, and was trying to keep up with traffic doing 85 to 90 on Interstate 15 south of Salt Lake City, UT in 105F heat. Las Vegas was 114 that day. Started to feel an oscillation in my left front tire, so slowed down. When I stopped for the day in St George, I checked all 4 tires for nails and found that my left front tire was starting to delaminate. I arranged for 2 new tires in Las Vegas and took it easy getting there. Date code was 4814 on my May 2015 built VW, so Tires were about 8.5 years old, with 45k miles on them and tread depth at 4/32". These tires sat on the front of my car since day 1. It would have been really bad if I had a blow out getting from St George to L.A. on a 3500 mile trip. I had the whole car inspected and serviced before going on the trip, they looked just fine, some slight cracks in the sidewalls showing up at the end of the trip, they were fine before I left, I inspected all of them.
Age of tire rubber matters. Rubber is like cheese, you don't want it overaged.

I've never had tire last more than 3-4 years on any vehicle. Waiting 10 yrs to change a motorcycle tire seems like a LONG time to wait.
You'd be surprised at all the garage queen HD's for sale with old tires and old batteries. Last thing you want is for one of those to delaminate while you're in the twisties or hauling the mail on the interstate. Not a healthy situation to be in if the centrifugal force causes them to delaminate.
