First post. Hi all, The short stroke on a 107 makes for such sweet smooth power. 114, 10 more lbs tq and give up the sweetness. Not worth it imo.

When I was looking to buy my Sport Glide I had the same concern. The sales guy asked what would I expect a 114 to do that a 107 could not. Fair question. Have the Sport Glide with 107 and Woods 22xe. It is not like I am wishing for more throttle. Plenty happy with the 107. Besides, there is no "winning" chasing numbers. Always one more to go.

Get the 107, you will be pleased.

I still enjoy my 80” Evo and 96” Twin Cam Dyna….great bikes are not about numbers.

The 107 is a hoot and there’s no reason to avoid it, but bashing the 114 is a non-starter as it is also a fantastic motor. Let it go and just enjoy what you like.

If you want facts and figures, I’ve ridden both and preferred the 114 when it was an option in the bike I was buying. Plus it’s a lot more motor for just the cost of doing a healthy stage 1….and resale recoups your cost while a stage 1 won’t - if you’re inclined to think like that.

that said, if I liked a model and it only came in a 107” I would happily buy it. Similar to another post here, I never ride my FXR or Dyna and think “man I wish this had a 114”….I’m completely satisfied by them all in their own way.

107 vs 114 matters. If it didn't then Harley wouldn't be offering a 114. This bike not having a 114 is one of the reasons I went for a Fat Bob instead. I don't care if the difference is 1/2 horsepower and 1/2 ft-lb of torque. That's in stock form. Uncork them and the 114 will always perform better.

I'm just hoping the Sport Glide sticks around in any form because there are rumors by a few on this site that it's being discontinued.

For those of you who have a sport glide, how water tight are the side bags?

I've ridden through several heavy downpours and my saddlebags have not leaked at all.

I rode a used Fat Bob 107 and a used 114 (the one I bought). The 114 was better because it was Performance Orange vs Vivid Black. Otherwise I didn't really notice a huge difference on the test ride. 114 may have pulled a bit better but that could also be because I was more comfortable on the second test ride opening it up than I was on the first test ride.
Besides I'm planning on putting a 131 Derby cover on it to improve the ride and power even more!

I drive a stock 107.
Would I like to have a 114?
Yes
Then I look at the dyno charts.
It really is a small difference on paper.

I rode both before buying my Heritage and decided there wasn’t $1,500 worth of difference between them. I figured the money would be better spent changing the seat, bars and windshield to make the bike fit me.

I also wasn’t a fan of that oval open air cleaner or the lame “114” graphics all over the bike.

The only way to compare engines for power and torque is to turn the throttle wide open. That is the only meaningful and comparable reference point. If the engine is running at a part throttle position there is no meaningful comparison possible. You can't say an engine has more or less performance if it is being held back by the throttle.
