2019 Fatboy - how to remove or attach back the metal tank pad thingy
Does anyone know how to remove or attach back the metal tank pad thingy? Something I did not expect to have a problem with. Feel very dumb.
So I could loosen those bolts, but they never really come off. And now I cannot screw them back in either so they're just loose in there. Please help 😭
On every model you will find the tank dash it attached at the tank somewhere in the middle or top(like yours) and at the bottom which requires you to remove the seat
There are nuts on those two bolts. You probably have them loose enough to turn but need to hold the nuts in pace to tighten or remove those two bolts.
Take the two bolts off that are at the bottom under the seat and the console bolt. either turn it over or lift it enough to put a wrench on the nut while you tighten the bolt.
When you remove the console you don't need to take those two bolts off.
There could be other suggestions but you are only talking about two bolts to remove the entire setup.
Good luck.
Loosening the dash off allows you slip a wrench under the bottom end of it to capture the two nuts that are on the downside of those bolts. It can be done without taking the seat off, unless you want to remove it completely. It would be nice if those two nuts stayed put but mine didn't and I had to grab them to take the trim piece off. That was a couple of years back though so...if memory serves.
