Default Heated clothing installation

I've had a Gerbing setup for a long time on my '97 Fatboy and was planning to move it to the '21 Heritage. Obviously the battery is not nearly as accessible on these new bikes as what I'm used to.

Is connecting straight to the terminals still the preferred method for 12v accessories like heated jacket plugs or is there some other accessory wire to tap into? It looks like I'd have to remove the battery to even get to the positive terminal.

I went straight to the battery terminal using the fuse from the glove manufacturer on my Sport Glide last year for heated gloves. It was a pain in the *** but if nothing else I learned how to remove the battery. Tried to get to the positive terminal without actually disconnecting the battery and ended up dropping the damn screw so had to pull it anyway. I would imagine the Heritage is equally as tight.

You don't have to remove the battery, but you do have to remove the plastic cover that holds it in. Once the cover is out you can access the positive terminal. There are several YouTube videos that show battery removal; they will show you how to get the cover off. It is a little bit of a PIA

Got it installed. Definitely much more of a pain than the old bike but it still took me less than an hour I think.

I had a permanent dual controller mounted in the console of my old Fatboy but realized since the HC doesn’t have an actual split tank and has a narrower console that wasn’t gonna be easy to fit. For now I’ve just wired a coax pigtail and may add a wireless controller at some point.

It's definitely worse than previous Softail models. The first time I went to remove the battery it took me about 40 minutes to figure it out. After a couple of times it's about a ten minute job. Still more complicated than it should be, like nearly everything else on the bike.
