TBR exhaust lack in performance?
I think that there is only one Road Rage 3 exhaust. And there is Road Rage ("standard") which goes with different header styling.
I have made a little study yesterday and also checked out the Bassanis web page and their FB page. I found out that-yes like the "RocketyMan" also mentioned there are different style of headers.
And on Bassanis FB page I found out that they launched new headers on Fat Bobs -just to salve the problem of ground clearance. The post was posted on 23th of April 2020.
here I am posting photo and post they made on that day:
"The 1S92RB is our 2 into 1 System for the New Fat Bob. It has both headpipes under the cam cover with great ground clearance. The sound is very aggressive and on spot for this Powerful M8 engine like you want it. Its @dragspecialties part number 1800-2361 Also fits the new Slim"
So I guess that from 2020 they use this type headers for Softail models. But yes havent seen them on youtube videos, probably its still to new. Yes like I seat I will go with this Road Rage series from Bassani. Heard a lot of good compliments from all of you about this pipes, the only complaints I heard was about ground clearance problem and now I guess they salved it...They also look aggressive and for my taste on a Fat Bob even better with this new style headers. I go for the looks but also don't want to suffer performance especially if I decide to go with stage 2 someday..
I dont beleave soo. You can check on Bassani web page: https://www.bassanipipes.com/2018-2019fatbob.aspx
You can see they have many options for 2 in to 1: Road Rage, Road Rage III, 50 anniversary Road Rage, Short Reaper, Rad Rage "Mercury"...

Now from what I have read, it seems the TBR is a great stage 1 exhaust. you got great sound with a touch of performance, but not much. And from all the dyno results I have seem with just a stage 1, tbr is just that. no dead spots, it pretty much ran the same as the stock lines just a few hp/torque more. (i have seen the dead spot dynos results, but usually had cams or other engine upgrades, which the tbr is not the exhaust for those upgrades)
OH and come to find out, they do have full length heat shields available!!!!
Since my bike has plenty of power for me (114 fxlrs), i really am not looking at cams and big bore upgrades. I really just want a nice deep sounding exhaust that looks good. Performance is not a big concern for me, as long as I don't loose any! So I am getting ready to order the TBD comp-s with the full length heat shields.
just my 2 cents worth.

But again I just cant look away from so many bad things I read on this forum or on YT comments, about bad low RPM torque curve, exhaust leaking, welding breaking, heat-shields falling off, discoloring etc...For me I wouldn't care much about discoloring but I would be really be unhappy if suddenly M8 which is a really good engine in my opinion, would not be working optimal anymore or I would suddenly on a trip losing the exhaust because of a bad weld...
But still mark-in-jax go for it! It is your decision and who knows maybe all our bad comments about TBR is the thing of a past. Maybe they have found solutions and made better exhaust! And please when you will try them, please comment about your thoughts and experiences!
And about heat-shields you are saying they are making a full length covers now??? Where did you find that if may I ask?
And I agree Fat Bob is powerful enough and I am also not looking for more power, it is also enough for me, but still I like to ride in lower RPM around 2000-2500 is where I ride the most. So if there would not be dead spots in TBR exhaust in stage one I would also order one right away ! It just is a good-looking and sounding pipe on a M8 Fat Bob.

The Bassani that looks like it will drag, I think it does if you are a leaner.
The Thrashin can make big power on the right engine.
Compare Thrashin to Bassani 50th:
Notice how the Thrashin and Bassani 50th look like the same design. It's possible Bassani assembles the Thrashin (I think). The Thrashin head pipe I think has a larger diameter and you can choose different size baffles. Depending on engine, the Thrashin had more power potential on a high compression 131 but won't do miracles on a stage II 114 where I would choose the Bassani.
