Never changed brake fluid in any. My working assumption is that bad fluid would cause a gradual problem, not a catastrophic failure. Just one average joe's opinion.

Here's another video that may be helpful. I used the Hill Country Cycles "push" technique and the suction technique that Ryan shows in this video. Made the mistake of mixing Dot 4 and 5 in the front brake line. I will have the dealer flush the entire system during my next service. I still have warranty on the bike.

Check out the link below. $179.00. Easy to use, pays for itself 1st time using it. If you have ABS, bleed them properly

I let the dealership do it for 100$.
Was cheaper than buying stuff to do it myself.

Only it has to be done again in 2 years time. At that point it would have been cheaper to buy the device

For the hassle of doing it yourself a good indy or dealer should get the job done just fine especially if you round off a bleeder screw or worse break one being heavy handed.

Thanks, and your thread is always so helpful, I just missed your brake bleeding post.

Still loving the Heritage? I am!
You have to cycle the ABS for flushing, not for bleeding, unless air has been introduced into the system. If the ABS isn't cycled during the flushing process, old fluid remains inside the ABS valves. That's the most critical area to be flushed, else moisture in that area causes ABS valves to seize.

I just checked with the local dealer and they want $260.00 to flush the system on my 18 Heritage. I think I will buy the gadget and a vacuum. Thanks for the info.

My dealer charged me $115, which I considered quite reasonable.

$260 is a ridiculous amount in anyone's book. That really is ripping you off. That is the kind of price dreamt up by someone who doesn't actually want to do the job but will take the money from a fool.

If you don't Cyce;e the ABS you are wasting your time.
If you do not want to by a unit to cycle ABS and you don't mind paying dealer inflate prices it is your money. You can find a INDY with the ability to cycle ABS.
The way HD has become it is foolish not to have the Tools to access the ECM/BCM on your bike. HD closing more dealerships to force labor prices up.
