New Speedometer
It sort of helped but did not solve the problem. So I pulled the speedometer and drilled a fourth hole a bit larger to fix it. Well, I don't know who did it but "someone" must have gone in behind me
and drilled the fourth hole a little deeper until it hit some copper circuits.
I would hit the fool that did that if I knew who he was.
So, I explained to my wife that the quality of some Harley components (Chinese Parts) was not up to par with past years because of the Pandemic and my speedometer would not work and if I got stopped in Florida
I would get fined. True.
Therefore I needed a new speedometer. She agreed and I contacted Dakota Digital (they were the only company on the entire Internet that was selling speedometers for my bike). Can you BELIEVE THAT? They directed
me to Fairing Exchange who ironically was about 20 miles from my house. God Loves Me. I have about 20 Squirrels that look through my kitchen door every morning and afternoon for peanuts.
I am the sole Supporter of Georgia. Just got back from having a Basic Bare Bones Speedometer installed. I did not need anything special so I got what looked liked a beginners Model. I have not played with it yet but each
number on the gauge can be set at whatever color you desire. It will even calculate a 1/4 mile run. I can't believe I got so much for a Basic speedometer.. Now I have to go out and ride in the Sun to see which colors show
up the best.
The pictures I am going to post are the colors we set it for to leave the shop. Everything is done from an app from Dakota Digital..
It allows you to change the features it displays on the gauge.
The first picture shows an image of Dakota Digital which it does during startup and then disappears. I am in Northeast Florida but I may explain to my wife it would be a better judge of colors if I was to ride it to Key West for a few days to experiment with the color change.
I found out from Dakota Digital they sell through vendors. Fairing Exchange is one and they go to the bike events like Daytona. They charge (according to the bike and model)
Mine unfortunately was the most expensive, was $650 with them installing it and taking the time to set it an explain to me how to make changes.
$575 if you buy it and a install it yourself.
It was more than the Harley speedometer but I wanted the tachometer on the outside ring. All the rest was a bonus.
I explained to my wife this was a good price for a basic Harley speedometer for an M8 being the newer design.
I will do some experimenting this week but in the daylight I think your choice is going to be probably the one to stay with.
If you change to a color that shows better in the Sun let me know.
