Default malfunctioning tach

So, I was riding my 2021 fxlrs today and glanced at my tach to notice it was pinned all the way at 8, but I was not revving anywhere near that. I brought the bike to a stop and turned it off, and the tach rolled back to 5 where it stayed. It seems 5 became the new zero. I rode home with the tach basically stuck all the way down pinned at 8, stopping at one light and turning off the bike for a few minutes and then turned it back on and the tach went back to working normally. This ever happen to anyone?

Sounds like you need to check wiring and verify if it's data or instrument. My bet is on wiring via data issue.

Happened to my '23 FXLRS. Stop n go traffic at bike week in FL. Turned bike off and back on and took off. Looked down and my tachometer was maxed out. Then it'd go up n down in red zone then got stuck on like 6. Turned off and few minutes later went back to normal. 🤷‍♂️

Mine in cold weather occasionally when gets to about 2K or so bounces to 5 or 6 K.

Never have figured what causes it.
