I own a 2019 FXLR and use it mostly for local transportation and cruising. I do not like or need saddlebags because I use a backpack for limited shopping needs. However, I plan to start taking some 2+ nights trips and will need more--not a lot more--storage room that just the backpack. I will take them off my bike when not on a trip. The Thrashin Essential Saddlebags appear to be a good solution. Will appreciate feedback from anyone who has installed them on a FXLR or FXLRS with a solo seat.

The Essential (small) ones are a day trip bag. Fits a light jacket in one and a sweatshirt in the other.
They are very nice bags but for more than a day I'd get the larger size. Either one is very light.
Hey there,
Not the Thrashin bags but I picked up these Viking rigid bags along with a quick disconnect kit from Easy Brackets. I'm not a saddle bag fan either but this set-up is lockable and goes on and off in secs when I need them.

Thanks for the reply with the pictures. I have debated whether to get the Escape of the Essentials bags. I haven't made a firm decision yet, but I am trying to keep my bike's weight and center of gravity is low and light as possible. I plan to weave the across the top velcro bag connecting strap through my luggage rack since I have a solo seat. In your opinion, will this technique hold the bag steady?

I bought these bags as an alternative to my Leather Pros to save weight and they look good on a Low Rider.
I can add a third bag to my detachable luggage rack if I need more space.
In this picture you can see the flap overlap from mounting on my fender and determine if you can and how use it.
