as we all know the OE smoked shield does jack ****...the fairing is great for body protection, but terrible head/helmet coverage. (I'm 6')
1. I have a tip/hack for you guys wanting more but not wanting the ugly, tall, clear one HD makes...or just a cheap solution.
2. update on aftermarket options...
---
1. buy this: shorturl.at/bjLR8
it actually works ok for the $ and will tide you over till you pick one of the following. I hated it at first but now, it really doesn't bother me.
2. a. if you don't already know, Klockwerks has a 6" flare coming. it's on pre-order now...a bunch of prototypes have been circulating.
I'm not all that stoked for a 6" version...I want more coverage. I know the flare does alot but I wanted an 8" or 10" height at the least. maybe it will come but they have not alluded to size options, as I've been up there *** about it.
b. now I just spoke directly to Clearview and they are planning to develop multiple size (up to those heights) options & shades, along with "A possible two-piece windshield to have the option to fully close the vent if needed. We have not officially started on the project yet. We are planning to have the prototypes done in September."
I also recommended a headlight cover, and hoping that will follow.
here's my POS rigged up in the meantime, till I have something better...
I'll report back about both, as I'm on pre-order w/KW and will be apart of the prototype testing program w/CV.

I am looking at putting the ST fairing on my Sport Glide. I think it will cost about $2500 to do it, but it is better than what it would cost for the ST. I like my Sport Glide, but the fairing and windshield pretty much suck. I have been looking for windshield options for the ST fairing, KW was about the only one I came across. Please keep us informed on what you learn in this process. I figured the stock windshield probably didn't work well for taller riders, and I was somewhat disappointed when KW told me they were only going to do a 6". I would be interested in purchasing your stock setup if you want to part with it after you get one of the future products. That would buy me some time while other windshield manufacturers get into the market.
sure..but find that 2.5k hard to believe...the bags alone cost like $3k. you'd be better off running a FXRT fairing imo.
I am only adding the fairing. The Sport Glide already has the bags, the ST utilizes the same ones.
Here's a list from Surdyke. The whole mess is like $1312 and that is with the 10" windshield, which I will probably delete. This doesn't include the headlight, I'm looking aftermarket, around $600. I figure paint should come in about $500. There is about $50 worth of misc. parts weren't listed on Surdyke. So, $2500, unless I have missed something.
^ I know what you got. was just reference. I guess alot more moving parts too.
just seems overly...reasonable. go for it. might be the first one to do it.
you can have my OE shield & clip-on $140 shipped

Yeah, I kind of had the same feeling about the overly reasonable. I want to see if Surdyke can do a check to see if anything (or everything) is in a backordered state before I push the button. I'll take you up on the windshield if I get to that point, which I will if no parts are on backorder forever. I'll let you know something this week. I realize it will be a little while before you can let go of it, at least until KW has their windshields available.

I added the ST fairing to my S. You can order the outer part painted vivid black right from Harley.
also unless your bike is a 22 model year youre gonna have to drill holes in the neck of the frame if you wanna add the fairing.

I can tell you it took forever for the fairing support bracket to come in and the little clips that go on the inside of the fairing that are tapped to accept a screw and allow you to screw the outer fairing and windshield to the Inner fairing are back ordered until October. Youll get all the big parts fast but some of the annoying hardware needed to screw it all together is severely backordered. Also dont forget the front engine mount with the extra lip that has a place to screw in the lower fairing support bar. No one caught that piece and I was scratching my head when I was trying to put it together until I went and looked at one in person and then pulled up the schematic.

The lower bracket is on the parts list. October is fast enough, I don't expect to do this until the temperatures drop a little. October is when that starts to happen around here.
Could you take a picture of where the hole for the upper mount bolt goes? Is there any wiring where it goes?

theres no wiring where the holes go but you have to drill 4 of them. 2 larger diameter ones on either side of the neck (pic is from a 22 LRS at the dealership - the hole comes predrilled from the moco on the 22s but plugged with plastic) and then two more smaller ones on the front of the neck and those two are going to be tapped. I cant get a pic of the two on the front because theyre covered by my fairing support now but you can use the support bracket as a template for where to drill.
The little plastic plug next to the tank bolt is one of the spots youll have to drill.
