My brother has a 114 Breakout, I have a 114 Fat Boy. They are so alike that you need to pick which one you like the style better.
The BO is a little more flickable because of the profile of the front tire, but the FB takes turns way better once you are into them. The BO has 1 small handling advantage; it has pegs. You can put them on a FB.
I would love to test ride a FB with mid control pegs and drag bars for ***** and giggles. There really is a reason sport and dirt bikes don't have footboards.
I may end up with pegs, or extended forward controls once I get my 14" KST Straight Jacket apes on my FB. Depends on how comfortable it is.
The one big point i want to get across is, especially with a H-D, the "rider triangle" is something you want to customize. Seat, then bars/grips, then foot controls. Make it fit you and your style.

I have the Breakout. People talk about it being difficult in terms of handling, but I've had many bikes, my last being a 2015 BMW GS (fantastic handling) and I don't really see what the fuss is all about when it comes to Breakout handling. The Breakout responds to countersteer as quickly as I'd ever need on the road. It's low, so cornering must be delicate, but you can solve that if you raise the pegs, to an extent. Then again we don't buy this kind of bike to go fast around corners. If thats someones goal, there are many better options (basically anything Japanese or European).

Both the Fatboy and the Breakout look amazing, but just have a slightly different vibe.

What I read sometimes about bike handling makes me wonder if the people complaining actually understand how a bike is supposed to be steered. These are big, heavy bikes, so obviously not ideal for around town or in heavy traffic, but they do hold a line in a corner, or at least mine does, once I set it. I can happily countersteer my way into a 90 degree side turning at 5mph and lean the bike way over, as long as I keep control with the clutch and rear brake, but thats elementary riding. I suspect some people don't take much in the way of riding instruction before hopping on a bike, which is a shame. I'd always recommend getting training from police riders if you can. Sometimes they offer courses or ride outs and they have very in depth knowledge generally speaking. Over here in the UK, the police run special courses in advanced riding and every single person I know who's done one, has come out a better rider as a result. It's also novel to completely ignore the speed limit whilst being followed by a police bike.

That looks like it. I did help him find it, but it's been a while since he installed it and I forget where he purchased it. I do remember it being about $30, so that is probably it.

Why? He could buy a new one with warranty for a little more then that. Then customize the way he'd want. He's going to have to pay tax, whereas a trade in reduces the tax.

Two years ago I bought my 18' Fatboy in Bonneville Salt Flat White, Breather, V&H Satin 300 slip-ons and 2,000 miles for $17,000 from a notorious dealer for jacking prices. Also in excellent condition, not a scratch or dent anywhere.
