Good recommendation from 702. Have you changed all of the fluids since you acquired the bike? Incorrect trans fluid level could also be a problem. If 702' suggestion doesn't work, suggest you spend the money to have a mechanic check it and have all fluids changed to new synthetics at the same time.
BTW--NO MORE OLD comments. At 65 you are a mere child. I am 76--turning 77 in 6 weeks--and ride my 2019 FXLR every day. Remember, you have to grow older but you don't have to grow old or grow up.
Welcome. You mentioned that the bike is a 2000 Fatboy. Even though you'll find some help in this section which is geared more towards the 2018+ Softails. There is another section geared more towards the pre 2018's.
Welcome...Do a complete clutch adjustment by the book, drain and change the primary fluid. Sounds like the bike sat a bunch with that mileage. I understand what 702 is suggesting. If the clutch plates are stuck (?) you may be better off pulling it apart. But if that bike starts in gear (?) you don't need a launch through the garage if it is on the ground. Jack it up, get the rear wheel off the ground if you want to try working the clutch to break it free. Start simple!

Welcome to the forum. At 65 youre not old. I turned 70 this year and am still going strong. A buddy of mine is 74 and still rides a kick-only Panhead. Dont let the reaper live in your head.
Yeah... we old old salty sea-dogs are becoming a dying breed. But, before I go, I have a lot of roads to conquer.
I'm turning 66 in exactly one month on Oct 1st,not slowing down one bit yet.
Still working full time is keeping me in shape, there's lots you can do yet at this age to get your body into better riding shape.
I'll be researching some of that myself with retirement looming but for now I take a lot of supplements and try to eat healthy, job takes care of the physical side.
Welcome aboard from another older than dirt.
