tailbone was an issue for me too in less than an hour seat time.
I have a gelpad, then an Airhawk on top of it. The seat height and cushion helped
but what made the world of difference was foot position...
at 5'9" w/32 inseam, forward pegs suck for me

I changed the mounts on mine and replaced with floorboard mounts and boards
*BAM*....huge difference now

Mine was an easy direct bolt on swap, as Fatboy mounts were compatible
Don't know if something like can be done on your SG.
but can say unequivocally, foot position made all the difference in the world ..for "me"

You have to stretch your legs out , highway legs are a must . It’s all in the leg angle

Being able to stretch my legs isthe most important part of my comfort, as GreenMonster said above. My seat is comfortable (Ultimate tallboy with backrest) but my highway pegs adjusted properly are the key to long distance.

stretching legs are great...for a short time only if you suffer the same ortho probs as some of us
some of us guys that get tailbone ache, it puts more weight on our tailbone stretching out and leaning back .
Once it starts to ache, we (I) have to lift/reposition my azz to get weight off the bone.
I'll even sit on the passenger seat and cruise for a time as it leans me more forward and takes weight off the bone

I can't do that with legs stretched forward

Others may have completely different experience than mine.
I'm just sharing what made all the difference in the world to "me"

It may or may not help the OP.

What are you riding? It could be beneficial to adjust or change the handlebars. I have an older Road Glide whose bars make me lean slightly forward. That takes pressure off of my tailbone. When Harley changed the bars in, 2012? the bike is no longer as comfortable for me as the bars force me to lean back and slouch.

I was going to state, it is your actual position as much as anything else. I am leaned forward on my tank, keeps my back stretched and probably weight off the tail bone, though I never have much problem with that anyway.

You may want to check out "the triangle" and adjust the pegs, handlebars, seat etc.

I have the Fatboy mounts on my Sport Glide, they'll bolt up to any 2018+ Softail frame. The Fatboy mounts are about 1/2" wider on each side than the Heritage mounts. I also think that floorboards make a lot of difference. It wasn't my tail bone, although it has bothered me in the past, but my right leg gets really painful from forward mounted controls. The custom floorboard options are pretty slim for the Softails, as they are different from the baggers. You may be able to find someone that will swap their boards and mounts for the forward controls.

there is a fellow who rides with me once in a while who uses kayak compression shorts. They have a thin gel layer in the seat. He kayaks a lot (white water, etc) so it's no big deal wearing the shorts for him. He does wear them under his jeans,

It would look pretty strange if he wore them over his jeans. Would he also put a cape on and be......."KAYAKMAN" with the power to clear with water at a single stroke?
