As a general rule of thumb... Hard to ID a problem that can't be seen.

I've got a '18 Heritage out in the garage that I've had a few years. I've never had issues with the use/deployment of the jiffy stand. Yes, I do need to lean the bike to the right a skosh to deploy the jiffy stand. But I basically/naturally do that anyway when I put all the weight on the right leg so the left if free to deploy the stand. I can't see getting a puck under the stand's foot being an issue whether doing so while sitting on the bike or standing next to it.

Might the previous jiffy stand design be better? Perhaps... But I don't have any problems using the current design.

I don't have a problem with it either, but it's my wifes bike and it's been a big problem for her. She's 60 years old, and about 120 lbs and 5'7" ish. She doesn't have the strength to manhandle the bike like you and I do. I swapped out the kickstand leg and the problem has been eliminated for her.

702, just wanted to say thanks for that link! Finally did the swap and I think that I used 9 pennies which made it super easy. Love the new kickstand!

It's pretty slick isn't it? Glad it helped you.

Yep. Once you know how it deploys it’s easy.

The jiffy stand seems to deploy slightly different on a soft tail after riding a touring bike to me

The Jiffy stands on these new Softails are nothing like the touring bikes or previous Softails.

I was using the HD's kickstand puck only while the bikes were in the garage. I always had the problem of getting the kickstand in between that V section of the puck. I had a few extra 12" X 12" commercial grade black linoleum tiles laying around. No more trying to line up the kickstand and the V section.

Same situation here with my wife and her Heritage. On level ground it’s usually not a problem but if there’s even a slight uphill slope on the stand side, leaning it far enough to the right to get the stand up/down puts her on the edge of dropping the bike. (Never mind the gymnastics of leaning it far enough to get a puck under it while seated on the bike)

In addition, because of the stand’s foot angle, if the surface is rough or soft the foot digs in before it’s fully deployed into the locked position. Sometimes it can take quite an aggressive pull to the left to get the stand to fully extend.

If it were my bike it would just be a minor annoyance because, as 702 said, I have the strength to overcome it. However, for my wife and other riders that lack the strength, height, etc., it can be a big deal.

My ‘21 Ultra-Limited doesn’t do this, my previous’ 08 Ultra-Classic didn’t do it, her previous ‘20 Sportster 48 didn’t do it, and no other H-D I’ve ever ridden, besides the current model Heritage Classic, has done it.

The Fat Bob does it too. Do her a huge massive favor and get a Sport Glide/Deluxe/Slim kickstand. Takes 5 minutes to swap it out, and the joy lasts a lifetime.
