I hope someone has some suggestions for a seat with decent cushioning for the passenger. My ol lady can't even make it an hour on the stock seat. I am currently looking at the Sundowner or the Hammock, but none of my local dealerships carry Softail seats, so it would have to be trial and error, and I am not keen on wasting money.
Have you considered the option of a seat rebuild?
Mean City Cycles are fantastic. You have several options for what you want done with the seat.
I had my gal’s pillion seat done last year & it’s made her **** feel allot better on the longer rides.
Well worth the $.
Seat comfort has a lot to do with minimizing "hangover". That's any part of the body not resting on the seat. Smaller seat more weight on a smaller area.
Check the width of the seats you are looking at. Also consider their construction and reputation. Some need longer break in periods and she may not be willing to go a couple thousand miles to break it in.
I have both the Hammock seat and the Sundowner seat.
As said previously, the Sundowner is a vast improvement from stock.
The Hammock seat is even better still (note - it's a taller seat)
I use the Sundowner seat for cruisin' around (prefer the aesthetics) and the Hammock seat for long distance/touring.
No complaints at all from my OH on either of them.
