I collapsed the adjuster. Maybe I should go less than half turn... Also, Wondering if not standing bike straight up is causing the issue...???

I don't think that having the bike leaning would be an issue other than making accessing the clutch harder, but a bike lift at Harbor Freight is $140. Get the steel one. If you're going to work on your own bike it is a good investment.

I would keep the bike as upright as possible. You can stick a 2x4 under the kickstand it will be fairly close if you don't have a jack. Forks have to be straight as well. Make sure the cable is seated in the clutch handle before releasing the tension adjuster. i usually give the lite tug to make sure it has all the free play out before locking it. Use a clock face for reference 12 being your allen wrench at the spot of resistance, 6 being half a turn. Try 7, if you want a bit more try 7:30. i wouldn't go tighter than 8. This is the best way I can describe the way I do it.
