So I know the EPA ruling and warantee issues with non compliant tuners. Everyone says thunder max can be put in and then taken out with HD not knowing... I find that hard to believe since there are always ways to know. Is that true, is Tmax really invisible if stock ECM is put back in?
I might go Power Vision. It's said you can get one and put tunes on other bikes... I have a 2020 tri glide ultra... So same 18+ M8 engine. Can I actually get a PV for my 23 LRST and flash tunes on the trike?
You can buy additional licenses for a Power vision so that it can be used on multiple bikes. However, there were changes made to the 2021+ models regarding the ECM and emissions system and I don't know if one PowerVision can be used on both a 2017-2020 and a 2021+ bike. Might want to ask FuelMoto, because if you're gonna buy a PV FuelMoto is the only place you should buy one of those from.

The TMax, I think, uses wideband O2 sensors and the stock setup narrowband. The obvious question a tick would ask is why you have wideband O2 sensors. Your best bet is to get a hold of Thundermax, but worst case you'll end up with a stock ECU where runtime is out of whack with indicated mileage. Best case they don't bother to analyze anything that far. My bet is that if it's a major warranty issue, they will find any way they can to deny warranty. For now I'm just using the SE tuner for that exact reason.

You can tune mulitple bikes with a Powervision by purchasing a 2nd license for the 2nd bike.
IIRC though in 2021 there was a change to a new ECM and you need a different powervision for that. So you'd need 2 of them anyways.
Got it, thanks guys. I'll have to check with FM to see if I can use same PV for both my bikes. One thought was to use PV now on mine, and get Tmax later and put PV on wife's trike.
And yes, I did originally think about Tmax and warrantee, but Tmax uses wide band O2 so must have headers done for that. At that point it doesn't matter.
I have already had the rocker box leak done under warantee. I'll go the rest of this riding season in case. This winter I'm doing cam and exhaust and I'll put a tuner on. But I was curious what I could get away with now and it's pretty much nothing.
Another question... If I get a PV what can I do with it besides a reflash. I mean you can look at stuff... Are they worth having just for their functionality?

if your doing a cam and plan to have it tuned locally check to see what your local tuner use. PV means your local tuner will need to tune using Dynojet which is typical for PV tuners.

I just got a license for my trusty PV-2 for my 24 Heritage 114. All I had to do was buy an interface cable for the new data port and the license. You can get them from Fuel Moto or Dyno Jet. If you download it will flag on the HD digital wrench and void the warranty. The Tmax is a separate ECM module vs the one that came with the bike. Im giving mine at least a year before I make any changes, do my homework to decide what mods I need. Probably just a cam, pipes, and air cleaner.
i have a PV4 and i have tuned dynas and m8 softails with it. the only difference for 2021+ is an additional adapter cable which you will need. other than that, i just buy licenses and tunes from fuel moto to tune multiple bikes.

I'm pretty sure that is the route I'm going to go. Tmax is tempting, but the ability to throw another tune at my wife's trike makes way more sense. I have talked with Fuel Moto and they doubt there will be much improvement over the SE tune... But if I do more in the future I'm not stuck.
