Just been to the dealers for the motor oil change parts and the Part Numbers for the M8 oil filters have changed, basically got an A stuck on the end.
The parts guy says they had been updated.
It appears they are better packed and the internal twisted flutes replaced with circular holes and stamped Mahle.
New superceded part number.
Filter wrapped in plastic bag.
Filter now with holes rather than bent flutes & stamped Mahle.
Filter makers keep buying each other out and moving production across the spectrum (not just motorcycles, obviously).
It's near impossible to keep track of what's going on, much less OEM engine makers changing sources for low bids repetitively.
Mahle is well known for quality engine parts like pistons, I wasn't aware they're making filters - or re-branding someone else's filters. That filter looks robustly built!
