Sucks, as Dan said, no tube. Tube in a tire that had a nail in the tread area, but the sidewall flexes much more and will tear further when heat is generated. Additionally, the sidewall is thinner than the tread area. New tire is the ticket.

Already ordered a new tire I know better to mess with something in the side wall . Ironically I did ride it over 100 miles home and it's still not flat this morning. It was crazy how I found it I wear a hat clip to hold my hat on . I accidentally dropped it and it fell between the saddlebags and caught on the nail sticking out or I would have never known it .

All screws I have had were in tread. Holding air actually. Never had anything in sidewall

Yeah still can't figure out how it happened. One of my riding buddies said you usually get a flat in the back because the front tire flips the nail up and the back catches it . He worked at a Harley dealer for years and said most flats were on the rear tire .

The cold comfort I tell myself that night, sometimes I don't until the next day, is I made it home. Any crash you can walk away from, is a good one.
