Default Running a 12v line to battery

I want to install a GPS and/or a phone charger on my '25 Heritage Classic. The cable needs to run from the battery to the handlebars. I'm looking for some guidance. Does the tank need to come off? Anyone have any instructions or know of a Youtube video. I searched but didn't find anything. I imagine this is a fairly common need.

Isn’t there a USB-C charging port? Don’t phones and GPS units charge their batteries by USB?

For a 12 volt power source, perhaps from head light nacelles to handlebar clamp.

I have a Garmin GPS and have used it on several bikes. On my 21 Heritage, I had it connected to the battery. I did not take the tank off at first, but have taken the tank off several times and it’s not difficult. I now have a 2025 and use the USB connection for power. I would recommend using the USB because it’s so convenient and works really well. Soca.

You need to be looking at the wiring diagram.

Don`t tap into the OEM wiring harness.

Check the left side of the frame, right in front of the tank. My 2023 had a usb port there and I'll bet yours does too, it's under a cover.

I believe they moved it to the left hand control since the control is different from earlier models because of the traction control system on the newer bikes.

Just drill a hole in both ends of the tank and run it though. DON"T DO THAT JUST KIDDING sometimes you can just fish up and under, I would put a fuse in the line too.

If you want constant power @lowbar , you'll need to wire to the battery. Alternatively, you could use the SAE charger plug that's already on the left of the bike. That's already a fused and dedicated battery connection.

If you want power only when the bike is on, you can open up the box under the gas tank and connect the additional harness for multiple power taps. This is what Harley uses for the add-on heated grips for example.

While perhaps not absolutely necessary, removing the tank would be highly advised. Getting to the battery back under the seat is a bit of a chore.

The HD website (2025 Heritage Classic) has a picture of the USB-C port located under the fuel tank on the left side of the bike. This is approximately the same location as the port on my 2020 Heritage Classic, accept that my bike has USB-C port. So, perhaps with an adapter you can use this for 'switched' power for a phone or other device.

There may be another option for accessing a power source on your 2025. On my 2020, there is a grey, unused, female (6-pin) Deusch connector located behind the Chrome Battery Cover below the seat. This connector has only four pins, as shown in the picture below. One row has only a single pin, which is constant battery power. The middle pin on the other row is Ground. The pins on either side of the Ground pin are both 'switched' power. You can obtain an assembled, fully wired 6-pin Deusch connector on fleBay for less than $20, but in this case we're only after the male half, which will plug right into the female connector already on the bike (assuming it's there on your bike, as it is on mine). Then, it just a matter of properly wiring your device(s) to the proper ground wire and power (switched or constant) wires. As a disclaimer, the MOCO may or may not have changed this connector since 2020, so please confirm any and all pins with a multimeter prior to connecting any electronic device.

In any case, I hope this info helps and you're able to get your electronic devices set up the way you want. Good luck!
