Default DK intiminators---drop in?

To the guys with the DK customs intiminators, do they just simply drop in under the fork springs? Im upgrading suspension this spring on my 23 heritage, so ive been snooping the forums and posted a couple times. im going with either progressive's 465, or legends revo in the rear, still flipping that one around. Upfront I was simply going to swap in progressives springs, but I came across those intiminators. Seems like most reviews and experiences were good, whether stand alone or with the spring swap. I had swapped progressives in on my old dyna and was very pleased with them. I dont ride harsh/long enough where I need ohilins or that ilk. save me some money since I do want to re do my bar/riser setup. plus with my mean city seat my comfort level is already way above stock.

anyones thoughts on the dk intiminators would be appreciated!

Yes. But if you don't have a spring compressor and don't want to buy one that never gets used again and can't find one to rent or borrow, it's better to let a cycle shop do it. And change the oil while you're at it. Also requires a tube cutter for proper preload - presuming you're replacing the spring as well.

I will say this - you will be very happy with it! It rides like it's supposed to - lightly damped over harsh bumps, heavily damped over large swales. Harley's stock set up is the exact opposite - bangs over cracks and dives in swales and hard stops. I can't understand how a supposedly premium motorcycle has this bad a suspension.

Hey man,
Whats the spring compressor for? I didnt need one when I swapped my dyna. But, I didn't remove the forks, and drained the oil with a vac.

According to the Service Manual you need one. I watched DK's video and Kevin had some big ogre push down on the spring while he turned the nut. I got no big ogres to compress the spring around here. They didn't remove the forks, either. You gotta have the correct compression on the spring before screwing the top back on.

Not an ogre but I always get the caps back on by hand ( various bikes)
Usually takes several tries, certainly the tool would make it easier

I watched the DK video. It was difficult. My ride is a 2021 M8 softail, has big springs. Done. Do what you want.

I have drop-in progressive suspension, DK Intiminators and different weight fork oil (recommended by DK Customs) in my custom Fat Boy - the responsiveness and ride is much, much better.
DIY job with the right tools - just be careful when undoing the top fork nut as it is under extreme pressure from the springs.
You also need a far bit of weight to push down and fit when reassembling.
You don't need a spring compressor - that's for the rear shock if you are changing for a lowering kit.

I forgot about all their videos on their website lol I use an extra pair of hands too, but used a red rag over the cap. One pulled it down, kinda like you gagging someone lol, the other used the socket. Made it pretty smooth, and kept the cap from being nicked or scratched. When I saw spring compressor I thought there was a cartridge in these. appreciate everyones input!

Just installed the DK Custom intiminators on my 2019 FLHCS. Yes, in a nut shell they drop in under the fork springs.
I've had my forks apart twice, once without the Jim's spring compressor tool and once using the tool. Believe me you don't want to take them apart or put them together with out it they are under way to much spring load. I cut my thumb pretty good the first time.
The directions tell you to just drop them in but you need to push them down to sit on the damper tubes to check the oil level, they don't just drop down the tubes.
