Hello everyone,
I have 22 fat boy and I'm looking to do some ride improvement as far as my rear shock goes. Harley at one point had a tall rear shock for the M* Softails. The heritage ,fatbobs, and lower riders usually bring a 13-inch rear shock. Has anyone swapped these in?
I have the SE ohlins on my bike which is 13.1in over the 12.6 stock.
It's well worth it when combined with a 260 rear tire.
13in adds extra ride height without giving the fender a "gapped" look like a lot of dyna/LRS riders make their bike look like.
I have a 260-rear tire on my FB. still trying to figure out what tire pressure to run. I used to run 42 psi on the stock sized Metzler 240. Metzler cruise techs have been the best tire i have over 10k miles on front, had about the same on the rear until a nail took it out a few months ago. I have been using the FB less since I got a brand-new Electra glide Police (FLHTP) in October.
My PSI for the cruisetec 260 rear has been somewhat dependent on what I'm doing, but for ripping through the twisties and chasing my motorcycle friends and stuff like that, the PSI needs be down near 32, for normal freeway riding I keep it around 36 cold, and when I'm doing 2 up riding with luggage, I need 39psi.
The cruisetec 260 is a larger tire that is a bit stiffer because it's got a higher load rating, so you run a lower PSI rating.
I also ran 42psi on the 240 rear. I have a 150/70ZR 18 on the front, and it's been an awesome tire. It easy would outlast 12k miles if I had not gotten into that accident.

I installed the 13.5" Progressive 465. That and the longer fork dampers I installed made a world of difference.
Before those two mods, I was constantly scrapping foot-boards.
