Default sissy bar

Howdy, I'm looking to get a sissy bar, one of the quick detach, for my 2024 FXST. The Harley Davidson ones look fairly solid, as do the ones off amazon. Anyone out there know how the amazon ones compare to the HD ones>
Thanks.

Careful of the ones on Amazon, many are cheap but cheaply made.

I would strongly agree with @tmac00333 There are many choices out there. While not a mechanical component, a sissy bar is as much a safety component as anything you add to your bike - whether you take a passenger or just luggage. My point is there is a lot of cheap Chinese metal components available. Further, there are a lot of companies out there that pride themselves on being American and based in the USA. The truth is many of them are selling parts made with cheap metal, manufactured who-knows-where.

I am not saying stick with Harley 100%. I personally would for anything non-cosmetic, but this is not about me. While Harley items such as this are American metal and will fit best with the docking ports and the docking ports will fit best with your fender/saddlebags there may be other good choices. Just be thorough in your research and be careful.

"Cosmetic" items such as bibs, coil covers etc. are, of course a different story. Be safe!

I had a sissy bar and lugage rack on my ex RKS that comes from I don't know where and the fitment on the docking hardware was not so easy and the paint had faded after a while and was no more gloss black but mat black...
Now on my FXLRS I have a OEM one and quality is much better and fitment already ...

The most likely problem you are going to have with an "Amazon" sissy bar is with the hardware. Typically the hardware out of China is thin, poor metal and has very loose tolerance. This will lead to rattling while mounted and premature wear.

Personally, I don't like any quick release parts on the back of the bike. It takes 2 minutes to mount/un-mount a bolt on sissy bar on a softail. I would get a hard mount. I had a Biltwell for many years on my Street Bob. It was very stout. In fact, I just cut it in half and am welding it back up to fit on my LRST.

I bought one from Forged LLC, June, 2020.
They used to offer a "Build your own bar"
I wanted a 24" round bar that was hard mounted with a luggage rack.
I've been happy with it. I've used the heck out of it for ~6 years and it is still in great shape.

I just checked and they don't seem to offer that option anymore.

How much do you like your passenger? Spend accordingly.

Thanks to all for the input.
I haven't had a passenger since the early 1970's, just want the bar to tie stuff on to the bike. I had one on most of the bikes I've owned, all home made. Unfortunately I no longer have a welder or other shop equipment. There is a used H. D. one in Calgary I will pick up. The pad is toast but I would have taken it off regardless.
Thanks again.
