going to re wrap my forks between the trees
and use lace i cut myself using some leather pieces i had laying around
with a tool i got from Tandy for $10.
i had 3 one foot squares and was able to get about 35 feet of lace out of each one.
it took me about 10 min. to figure out how to use it but then it went pretty fast.

Looking forward to seeing the new forkwrap Jay.

Thanks for the info on the lace maker tool.

yas mud, the one in the middle has the chrome cap not reinstalled. I have to boil the metal and almost freeze the rubber then wd40 it and be careful not to push on the knife but rather the rubber with a punch to coax it back in the cap.. a lil tricky but it works
I am also gonna get a cheap drilpress so I can dril the bloodmarks instad of grinding them...
I attached a diagram I made, also a link to the DIY post you must have overlooked.
I have 4 dipstickknifes now,I need oil sticks

This is a great thread, I haven't done any of the mods yet but check back with it regularly. Excellent work to everyone who's contributed and Mud for sticking it all in one tidy little index. Thanks!!

Just thought of an under fifty bux idea...

I have already been doing this, and it is working great for me. everytimeI see a forum with tips and step by step instructions (especially this one!) I print out the pages I need, and have made a huge binder of mods and hints. put all my order receipts for parts, where I got them, and all of the advice that I have printed from you guys.

the binder is getting huge, and the bike looks great!

No, I saw that Thomas.
Just forgot that the epoxy is set way back in the cavity,
out of sight.

Nice job shaping the buried end of the blade for locking in.

Got a dipstick in the mail this afternoon,

I have a good many old stainless steel blades (flea market cheapos)

Got your cap yet Battersby?
Thomas, I do have a dipSticker to prototype with,
courtesy of HDFDyna brotherRonbaci,
and XKROME's Take Off Parts thread.

The 06 up Clutch66 style dipSticker is going to be more of a challenge.
Pictures below, for thoughts from you all.

The 06 up is not fixed, it swings and rotates.

And, it cannot be disassembled easily, as the ball end of the stick
is captured in the cavity by plastic welding of the assembly.

Being I'm getting old(er), I have trouble remembering who posted what on what, so I did the same thing you did. I have a large binder full of the UNDER FIFTY BUX posts and any other instructions and modifications from forum members. My binder makes the Webster dictionary look like a pocket size notebook.
I have learned a lot since I joined this forum, and I'd just like to take time to thank everyone for their input on modifications, where to buy items, what to buy to get your moneys worth, what not to buy so I don't get ripped off, and so on.
Thanks to all that have contributed to keeping this forum #1.
