Need some ideas and or pics on where is the best place to (hook up and install) a power outlet for GPS / Ipod ect 07 FXD

I have an 02 WG. The previous owner had his local HD dealer install one so he could plug in his GPS. It's right behind the battery on the right side of the bike.

I don't mean for this to sound nasty or any variation thereof but what ever happened to a bike just being about the bike and the ride? Do "we" really need all the extra electronics? Who needs a gps? The best part of the ride is getting lost and finding that awesome new road or fishing spot. JMO....

 

I would like to find a power adapter that takes a standard plug type (cigarette lighter). The Powerlet is nice, but needs another adapter to get the standard plug in. I saw one called a Power Pod, looks nice, but mixed reviews on the first gen of them. Would like to know if anyone has info on the second gen product.

longhair - you are correct that on many occassions it is about the bike and the ride. With the increase in guys riding to work instead of driving, it can often be helpful to have the "gadgets" with us. Besides, I find it helpful to have the gps to tell me where I was and how to get home when I do get lost.

 

Depends. Sometimes you're going somewhere, sometimes you're just riding. Some people ride their bike to work. Some times you have to go somewhere specific & be there at a certain time. Some times a GPS would help.

 

I use to feel the same as longhair, but after moving clear across the country and getting lost a few times, I decided it was time to add one. I use it when I do get lost and find it makes the rides more enjoyable. Now I never worry about it, I take any road that looks interesting and ride till I decide it is time to head home and then turn on the GPS to guide me back.
