The most interesting bunch of ideas Ive ever seen!I ended up reading all of them.As far as the Powdercoating of shocks, part of the powdercoat cure process is a baking period in an oven,I dont think the shock seals could take it and it would damage the internals....youll never see the horn on that roadking again!Alot of good ideas, glad I signed up,Ill pass on the cardboard saddlebags though,I like mine!

I know many have done and posted different variations of their ideas for a garage door opener, however heres a way I just installed today and it was suprisingly easy (im not very handy either!) and didnt cost me a dime.
You need:
Garage door opener
Solder gun
solder
20+ gauge wire
Crack open your garage door opener and find the switch that triggers the garage door opener. Head up the connections so the switch can be removed. Once you have the switch out, close it. Solder one end of the wire to one connection, and the other end to the other connection so that the opener is constantly engaged. Connect 2 wires to the negative and positive posts of the battery connection.
Next, find out which wire that leads from the 21 pin connector under your tank console leads to the highbeam, and which one is ground. In the case of my 08 street bob, the white wire was the lead to the high beam (runs under 12v) and the black was the ground. Connect the positive battery wire from the opener to highbeam lead, repeat the same for the ground to the negative battery post from the opener.
If done correctly, since the opener is constantly engaged, once you flip your highbeams on, bingo, your garage door will open. The only issue I had was where to place the opener once the wiring was completed. Because I used an older opener, it didnt seem to penetrate the console, so I ran long wires down the console and hid the opener behiend the battery (seems to work great from there), however; any location that works for you is your choice.
Now whenever you trigger your highbeam, the door will open. and it will only work when the bike is turned on (which is great for anyone who leaves their bike outside at times). Aswell, there are no batteries to change since it runs of your bike.
Note:
Should only work with openers that use a 12v battery, not AAA.
