Harley fog lights...wow
2) I normally use the high beam and the fog lights in the day time too. I have never had a problem with charging the battery.
Do European bikes use the same light pattern, the same "grind" on the lens, or are they like the "E-Code" automobile lights and throw a longer but flatter beam? Anyone here know?

It says "made in Germany" and carries the E1 mark. When importing a H-D from the USA, lenses have to be changed and adjusted to European rules.

To adjust the headbeam you can use the info below. After having adjusted the headbeam, switch to lowbeam and bring the aux lights in line with the lowbeam.

It's amazing how much more "visible" you are during daylight hours with them on. BTW, if you switch to HIGH BEAMS... it disengages the fog lamps, as it would for your car. If you think about it, you wouldn't be using high beams in fog or during snowstorm at night.
Anyway, it is amazing how much more the road is illuminated at night, especially if you're running in critter country. You can really see those eyes reflecting further down the road. These lights are a WIN - WIN in my book. No problem with the battery either.......just be sure when you re-install your seat, you dont crimp the set of wires. After a few times out and about after the install, somehow my seat ended up pinching the wires. Once moved the the wires over a bit, I've had no problems. I'm using the PIAA Xtreme White light in my headlight for when I want to use HIGH BEAMS. The PIAA's really makes a difference if I don't want to engage the fog lamps.

Mine fogs ( installed by the dealer) disengage when I flip mine to HIGH. Did you do the wiring or was it a dealer install. Now you have me curious. I've never used high beams when driving in FOG, so I assumed these fog lamps worked the same the same way. Let me know......OK. Thanks...
I ride a Road King with the two switches on the front forks. I wired the fog lights to one of the switches, so its a manual on/off. I can run the fog lights with the headlight on low or high beams, makes no difference. At night I often run the fog lights with the high beams.
As far as aiming them is concerned, the fog lights are designed to throw a very narrow (vertical) but wide (horizontal) beam of light. I also was concerned about deer along the side of the road, and went out to aim them at night. You can start using a garage door or wall, as the diagram above explains, but be sure you take the bike out to a remote road and sit on it upright to check where the beams fall on both sides of the road.
It's easy to aim the lights too high.
They need to be able to illuminate critters off both shoulders...
(IMHO. YMMV.)

I'm pretty sure the specs call for them not to work with high beams. I have the best dealer and they installed them so I could use them when I want.
I don't know why they are called "Fog Lights". I never felt any fog light actually helped in real fog. I guess that's something for a different thread.

My dealer also bends over backwards to please us. He should...... Between Hubby and I, we've spent in excess of $22,000 on accessories for 2 bikes in the last 2 years, not to mention $$$$ for inside winter storage every year and routine maintenance on 2 bikes. We bought both bikes from them too, plus 2 riders edge classes. So what ever we want, they jump through hoops to be sure it's taken care of. They even send a truck to our home to pick the bikes up and deliver them back to us at no charge when or if we have problems. We are not mechanically inclined so they do everything except changing light bulbs. We figured out how to do that ourselves. Today we stopped by for a visit and just dropped another $800 for a Sundowner Seat for my Dyna plus pre-paid for inside heated winter storage for 2 bikes.
I still have a couple more chrome accessories to have put on over the winter. So I know they'll do what ever I wish without givine me a hassle.
Again, thanks for the heads up about the wiring/high beams.
Here are some diagrams showing how the foglamp kit should be installed, according to H-D's mounting instructions (=DOT regulations). In this way the fog lights as well as the aux lights stay on only with lowbeam (spliced to the yellow wire). (I can send you the link to these instructions by P.M.)
If you want them to work with high beam, splice (6) to the highbeam wire (on my 2003FXD it's the white wire).
If you want them to work independently from high/low beam, splice (6) to the runing lights wire (see your manual for the color, on my 2003FXD it's the blue wire) or run the "unterminated wire" (6) in the wiring harness back to the + on the battery or the aux fuse in the fuse box.

Here's a wiring diagram on how to wire aux lights using a relay:

Signal current from switch (86 ==> 85) activates coil; coil activates internal relay switch (30 ==> 87)
30 = + from battery (requires mim 2.5 mm2 wire)
87 = + to lamps (requires mim 2,5 mm2 wire)
86 = + from switch or headlight wire (to activate relay)
85 = ground
