Thanks! The cross was about 7$ at Wally world lol .. I just bent (its metal) it to shape and peel & stick. Seems to be holding up fine, been about 2 months and 3k+ miles. But if there is issues I'll use the better tape. The stuff body shops use to stick tailgate logos and stuff. Thatll hold for sure... That derby cover dont get all that hot really. Id say not much hotter than a Tailgate of a dark colored truck sitting in sunlight down here. Which is what the emblem was actually made for.
It was kinda a afterthought to blacking that cover.. Just after I got the bike SOMEONE *rolls eyes* decided to take something and scratch up that cover real real good lol. So afew days later I was up in the middle of the night and went on a Walmart run to grab the paint Id need to black it... saw the emblem and couldnt resist
I like it XD

Well had my first roadside incident today :/ .. On the way home from a friends bday party I was downshifting to make a right turn when the shifter went limp. I had read enough here that before I could even get pulled over all the way I knew what was wrong. ...
Broken Shifter linkage :/ .. As luck would have it I washed the bike today and didnt put my tools back in my bag. Lmao. Cut a strip of leather from my belt and weaved it back together... taped the knot with abit of electrical tape and made my way home...

Will stop at the dealer in the morning and get it fixed HOPEFULLY without having to raise too much hell. This is my 2nd part that has "Worn out" before crossing 10k on the ODO. 1st one was the rear wheel bearing. NOT a happy camper though I admit it could be worse.

Ah... and missed an update..
Finally moved my ignition switch after much thought and over-thought. Leaving a store last weekend with my hands full and jacket pockets stuffed full of everything from bandanas to extra gloves the stock switch chapped my a$$ for the last time. Went straight home and got to work.
I had scrounged up a stock fuel gauge with a cracked glass for pennies. Carefully removed the metal trim ring and gasket. Used a dremel to enlarge the inner hole of the trim ring enough to fit the switch. collared the switch with the gasket and ring and installed in the stock fuel gauge location much much as jmpancoast did.
I dont miss the fuel gauge in the slightest and I'll eventually work out what to do about the fuel light. Best mod ever to a FXD HANDS DOWN

A now a random shot to make u wintery people hate me

The more i thought about it today the less it made sense for MOCO to put the same crappy part back on my bike.. So with alittle looking around I made my own linkage.. When gathering everything I thought I would hate the look of it. Figured I would end up wrapping it in leather. But I actually like it - Rugged looking ....

2x 5/16 Ball Joints - 16$
8" Length of SS All-Thread - 5$
2x Flat lock washers (5/16) - $
2x Flat Washers (5/16)
2x 5/16th x 1" Hex Bolts - 1$
2x 5/16th Hex Nuts - 1$
-----------------------------------
Total -- Call it 25$
While I was at it I wanted alittle more space on my hwy pegs. So I grabbed afew things and made it happen.

4x Iron Pipe Nipple 3/8" x 2" - 4$
4x 3/8 x 3" Hex Bolts - 4$
---------------------------------------
Total - 8$-ish
Wrapped em in abit of electrical tape before bolting em on. Will probably do something different later even if its simply paint these with black epoxy but it works for now. Soooooo much more comfy - I actually LIKE my hwy pegs now

Thanks! Man as heavy as those ends are I would expect the whole bike to come apart before that shifter linkage does. And unlike the stock one ofc, if this one "fails" the linkage will just get abit sloppy but youll still be completely able to shift... Motorcycle boots are NOT made for walking lol
Oh lol.... Almost forgot. I thought the piece of leather that helped me limp home deserved a spot lmao. Kinda a rat-bike thing to do I guess but it seemed fitting
A Roadside Trouble Trophy!

Yes dirty bike I know XD. Here in Central Louisiana the past week or so its been more like boating than motorcycling LOL!

Always gotta mess with something lol! ...
I needed a project last weekend and remembered this thread about installing a wolo/stebel and decided Id give it a shot.
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...us-how-to.html
Took an hour or 2 to gather the supplies that I didnt have (and the horn itself) and maybe a couple hours taking my time for the install. I used some fuel line I had on hand and I really need to replace it with something abit smaller so it will hide alittle better but otherwise it all turned out great. I had already relocated the stock horn to a L Bracket under the battery box so... I just left it there
You can see the wolo horn section hiding behind my hwy peg.

Not the best picture of it but hiding behind the coil in this pic is the compressor for the wolo. Mounted using one of the starter bolts.. Added a beverage opener while I was at it

The wolo by its self is pretty loud but the the 2 horns together are stooopid lol. Heres a sound sample, take your pick of format.
