Air ride problem
Bear in mind this had happened first, just a few days after installing the air ride, and I was still getting used to it. Had to ride 20km back to the shop, dragging my cholos on the tarmac. Completely ruined the tips, which is why I got the air ride to start with.
So I would always put the bike away with the bike in the raised position, and never adjusted it. But still, air was leaking out, and if left unridden for 2 days, same thing happened.
4th time it happened, I refused to ride the bike there ( having installed completely new shorter cholos and tips) or let them fetch it with a truck - I insisted they send the tech to fix it in my basement.
The guy who came to fix it was young and very shy, and I was pretty insistent that he tell or show me why this kept happening- and while he admitted that he did not know precisely (had never worked on a Shotgun air ride before mine) told me what he believed: he said there was a valve sticking, and stripping and cleaning it, there was some white residue. He believed that there was either dust, moisture, or both getting in, and interfering with the seal of the valve. Considering I live in a small middle eastern desert country, and everything is not far from the sea, this seemed quite feasible. I asked him what lease I could do and his advice was: if you dont want to change anything, just make sure you power up and inflate the system, and completely deflate it, at least every day - that will hopefully blow out any dust, condensation or combination of the two.
If I were in a more populous country with more options I might look into a water trap filter, but honestly its beyond my bike shops capabilities.
So far its working
