Default fork seal replacement time

97 RK air ride suspension

Howdy all. I just ordered a (hopefully) complete rebuild kit with seals and boots. I'm told i can just get the front tire off the ground and do not need to remove the forks from the tree and can rebuild it from the bottom end. I have a service manual so I have the info but Ive never done this seal replacement before. Can I get helpful suggestions, what i can make a seal driver out of or any info that may help me get this done correctly?
You all have been such a help already, I have my leaks fixed so moving on to get this ol girl ready for a nice long ride. TIA

Figure 6 hours minimum
Wheel / Fender / Headlamp nacelle
PVC pipe ( or a socket ) can be used to install the seals

( Drain screws are J.I.S. and easy to strip )
( Pick up new seals and service the front wheel bearings while it`s off)

If by strip you mean rounding out the head then using a Phillips screw driver yes, using the proper driver no. For most JIS screws the driver size is quite large.

One more suggestion
Remove the headlamp nacelle FIRST.
Make sure the oil leak is not the result of loose air fittings at the top of the tubes.

Do u mean torx head cap screws? I have a new set that should cover everything. Also bought a allen head set screw to ratchet set that has the lil to the thumb size. Good idea on the wheel bearings.duhh. Thanks for the info.

She's a 97 year. Pretty sure I want the seals to not be a issue with leak down. Already moved the tank and checked hose fittings with soap. I will be re placing all the hoses and connectors for the front. Just did the rears and have no air loss over a week now. Just replacing all the old dried up seals n such. Thanks

Item 26 shown below is the drain screw. Grinding the tip of a standard Phillips provides a better fit in JIS screw ( see pic )
Item 12 sometimes requires the quick action of an impact to prevent the damper rod from spinning
REMINDER , these forks were made in Japan item 12 is METRIC
You round out ( strip) either of these fastener heads and you`ll regret it.
