Can anyone tell me the difference between the Kenwood KDC-558 and the Kenwood KDC-798? Thanks.

It looks like higher preamp out and HD radio on the X-798.

The 798 also has a rear USB port.

So for the people that aren't audio gurus and don't need all the fancy stuff, the KDC- 558U should do just fine? I just want to replace my head unit before it fails and I just need something to play my burned and mp3 disks and plays my mp3 player. I watched a youtube video on both the 558 and the x798 and they didn't say anything about a rear usb port on the 798. There are 2 input jacks on the front left side of both of them. I assume the round one is for an mp3 player. Is the other one just a charger port or can I put music on a jump drive and play it through there? It would be nice to have a rear port to plug the mp3 player into so I don't have a cord hanging out the front. Thanks for the help.

Go to crutchfield.com and look at the stats and pictures for both, I have the 798 and it does everything + some and you want the higher pre out voltage at least 4 volts or more.
