Looking to do a little upgrade to my audio system. Not going crazy, just going to put in an Alpine KPT-445U amp and the Infinity Kappa 6.5" speakers. From what I've read, it should be more than enough for what I'm looking to do.
My question - the listing for the amp on Amazon says that it "Runs off same power circuit as receiver". While it's surely less involved not having to run that power wire, does the amp really not require it? It seems really hard to believe, so I was wondering what others have done?
Well, not really. It was mostly because I saw the note about not having to run power which seemed convenient. That said, if I do have to run power, my alternate was the RF300x2 - which looks like a nice unit.
Not a bad little amp powers my fairing and CVO lids, polks all around just fine. fits nicely on top of the head unit and as Gannicus said run a power wire from the battery.

Running power and ground to the battery is best, and it's actually quite easy...four bolts on the tank, quick disconnect on the fuel line, one screw and one bolt for the dash, one quick disconnect for the fuel pump and the tank is off.
