Was originally going to use Kappa's and a PBR 300x2 for my stereo upgrade but now I'm considering the BT 7.1's. I'm only going to be running the 2 fairing speakers and do not plan to expand further. My question is, what would be the best (economical?) amp to push the 7.1's? Would the Rockford do it or will I need more power? I'm going to be using the stock HU and would like to keep FM reception. Thanks

Only one economical amp keeps your FM. PBR300X2. Next step up from the X2 is the BT2180. Many more economical amps out there but they are all class D and as we have stated many times on this forum it's a gamble.
You may want to check them out. Not only do they have an excellent product but their customer service is phenomenal.
If you call them (I think the owner is Scotty) go up to Barre Canada about an hour or an hour and a half north of Toronto and they will install it right at their factory for you.
They also backup the product which of course is always a really nice plus. They never leave you out in the cold if you know what I mean.
Hogtunes - do yourself a favor and stay away from it. As my friend Gannicus stated:
Keeping FM:
RF PBR300x2 or BT2180
Willing to give up FM:
-Soundstream PN2.350D (115 usd)
the BT71's are the best speaker I have heard so far and they like power.
spend the cash one time and be done with it (BT combo amp and speakers). Lifetime warranty...

+1 Yep, Might as well bite the bullet get the 7.1's and the BT2180. Do it once. Keep your FM plus a lifetime warranty.
I have some 7.1's on the way so I just ordered the Cerwin Vega B2, after Gannicus pointed out that the CV puts out as much at 4 ohms (150w) as the PBR puts out at 2 ohms, plus it's a few bucks less. $149 on Amazon. Just for reference the Kappa's are a 2 ohm speaker, but the 7.1's are 4 ohm. If you stick with a 2 ohm speaker it's rated for 250w. It IS a class D amp, so you'll likely lose FM. http://www.cerwinvegamobile.com/all-...tem/37-b2.html
